Oooh.... I LOVE it when a liberal tries this "corruption" shit argument with me.
I grew up in Venezuela. Corruption has ALWAYS been a part of the Latin American culture / system. ALWAYS. And, in the democratic capitalist version of Venezuela... that corruption WORKED. It worked SO well, that Venezuela was the most prosperous nation in all of Latin America.
I know... I lived there.... when there was FOOD. Now there's no food.
They have the largest proven oil reserves IN THE WORLD. More than Saudi Arabia! They WERE the largest producer of low-cost aluminum IN THE WORLD (my father worked in that industry). There were one of the largest producers of steel in the world.
They have diamonds. They have gold. They have cheap hydroelectric power.
They can grow their own food in rich soil. They have fantastic tourist attractions.
Venezuela has every conceivably desirable natural resource a country could WISH for.
I love it when liberals vacuously regurgitate the talking points they've been fed... to someone who has PERSONAL experience.... whether it be Venezuela or guns. It's a lot of fun handing their asses to them with actual facts and logic.
What ruined Venezuela was SOCIALISM.... just like socialism has failed in EVERY OTHER COUNTRY it's been tried in the entirety of history.
Having lived there in its heyday, it is INCONCEIVABLE to me that the people there are STARVING. Literally starving. What. The. FUCK? Socialism. That's the fuck.
Every S. American country is rich in Natural resources.
They are also rife with racism, classicism and corrupt to the core.
Our foreign aid is reward for all this bad.
Not true about natural resources. Venezuela stands HEADS above the rest. And, it's concentrated in a relatively small country. There's a reason U.S. companies invested billions (1950s - 1970s) in steel, aluminum, and oil industries in Venezuela and not Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, etc.
But, yeah... Corruption? In spades! But, it "worked" then, and it's CERTAINLY got NOTHING to do with Venezuela's death spiral now. That's all on socialism. When the gov't seized control of the major industries, fired all the management and replaced them with Chavez's friends... what could possibly go wrong? His friends knew NOTHING about how to run an aluminum plant... or an oil refinery... etc. Now those factories are literally rusting to shambles.
Racism? I didn't see it during the 11 years I spent there. At the time, Venezuela had quite the international community. They've all since moved out... because... socialism (and their safety).

Brazil still doesnt know what it has.
You know better than I but i see them with more options than say Saudi Arabia for whom its oil or nothing.
Yeah... Brazil has long had problems... of many kinds.
Another funny argument from the liberals about Venezuela is blaming the economic downfall on falling oil prices. Not true, of course. As you said... Saudi Arabia (and other middle-eastern countries) ONLY have oil. They've got oil... and SAND. That's it! They aren't starving, and they can't even grow their own food!
Venezuela has THE MOST oil... AND a shit-ton of OTHER valuable natural resources. But, yeah... lower oil prices caused their demise. No... wait... it was corruption. They can grow food, and they're starving.
Liberals haaaaate to admit that socialism is a failed system... in every case.
Probably the most eloquent thing Trump ever said was, "The problem with Venezuela, is not that socialism has been poorly implemented, but that socialism has been faithfully implemented."
I quote this, simply because what you said is so pertinent, and done so eloquently, that I can't even begin to compare or compete. But it NEEDS to be known, far and wide.Oooh.... I LOVE it when a liberal tries this "corruption" shit argument with me.

There is actually a place where socialism works quite well, and continues to work very well.
Everybody who is in there enjoys totally free meals, shelter and living space.
There are no weapons at all and everyone follows strict conduct rules that are heavily enforced.
There is no jealously, for all residents have limitations on what kind of possessions they can own and how much they can have.
And most of all, everyone enjoys a carefree environment free from the obligations of work, for the state takes care of all of your needs.
It is called prison.

Socialism has finite bounds in which it will work....
1. A homogeneous population historically in race, certainly in culture but more important in goals to attain.
2. A that culture must be in an existential distress of some sort.
3. The population is limited in size compared to the distress.
4. The culture must have a sense of shame.
Socialists point to the Mayflower compact or Sweden as ideals.
The puritans were small in number, all similar in religion and culture and faced attack from indians.
As soon as they secured their territories socialism quickly fell apart and people began to operate on Capitalism.
Sweden operates as a homogeneous culture, with a common religion and operated in the world as a neutral. There quasi socialism is now being stressed because of their self imposed fragmentation of their society. The new culture does not know shame and looks upon living on the arm as a right not a short term hand up. Swedens socialism is going to fail.
Good point.Socialists point to the Mayflower compact
Socialism ignores one major human trait, and is one of the main reasons why it will always fail.
People like to own things.
You can vote your way into socialism, but the catch is that you have to shoot your way out.
The USA has been Socialist since the 1930s under the tyrant dictator warmonger FDR. More than half of our workers are working for the government or for government funded projects. If you make any serious money you pay over half your income in taxes or are taking deductions that employ other people who will work and fund the government. The rest of the economy is based around the need to supply these government workers with goods and services. If you sell bread or a car to a government worker who pays you in money you already paid the government in taxes it's a closed loop economy and everything is dependent on the government.
The government just prints 1 or 2% more money for distribution every year to keep the house of cards from collapsing.
The government can decide whether you have free speech or can defend yourself, what you can do with your property, and what profession you practice. If what you sell isn't to government standards or you don't pay their fees you get shut down and can lose your property. But for a perfunctory vote your children can be sent to fight a pointless war in a far off land. And if you dare to spank your child in public the government can take them away from you. All the while your children are indoctrinated in the government's approved narrative, which is persuasive throughout the media. They even provide a counter narrative for passive dissenters in the form of Fox News and the Republican party, who never really do anything and are merely five years behind the Democrats in policies.
Adults are sedated by beer, free porn, legal weed and football.
We're a socialist authoritarian state just like the People's Republic of China. We allow capitalism on a small scale but the big decisions are made by monopolies (Amazon, Google, Exxon) and the elites run the government (in fact the Commies have more turnover in their congress). China has one party and we have two parties acting in unison. The reasons why we're happier than the poor Chinese is we've always been a wealthy, growing country that's effectively ruled the world, our currency on top so we print as much as we like and everyone else has to follow. Plus we're not as crowded, we have millions of smart creative people and are blessed with natural resources.
Now we have a situation where the government is banging war drums to attack another sovereign state that has done nothing to harm any US citizens. Our media is hyping false flag incidents or exaggerating the threat. Meanwhile even recent history shows that if we do a regime change the lives of the people are still miserable as their countries problems and corruption still exist.
Gee what commonality do all our recent enemies have? Oil.... Could we be fighting to keep the price of oil low so our economy doesn't collapse? Or to keep the price low so Putin is punished? Could there be some secret motive not reported by our trustworthy media?
We should fight internally within America by burning the universities and Washington DC, overthrowing the government and bringing all of our troops home from overseas to protect our borders from invaders. At least then we'd be getting something for our money.
But we're not. Even the Trump revolution was tamped down by the state and we're just going to roll along here. We'll probably send an Army of immigrant non-citizens to Venezuela to blow some shit up for CNN. Then we'll allow a couple million Venezuelan's to move here and open Venezuelan restaurants and Jeff Bezos will rename dog meat as healthy vitamin-packed NutriCanine pellets good for achey joints and dementia.
We're f-ed. But rah rah lets go shoot some Socialists like it matters one iota. Stupid boomers will just call me an anti-Semite for complaining.
There is some sense in what you say but the racial/anti semitic component drowns out the message.
I get it there are stereotypes or generalizations people may make.
Would you accept an ally from these groups you disparage if they believed for the most part as you do?
Do you see people as individuals or is every individual defined by your perception of the group you put them in?
