Hello, I'm having trouble finding the right projectiles for my 300 blackout, I just got started in reloading and have to order all the consumables but I'm having trouble finding the right projectiles for my purposes and was hoping someone here can help me figure out what I need.

Anything around 120 gr-125 gr will do the job unless deer in your area are incredibly tough. Try hornady, nosler etc with the little plastic tips, they are all accurate and work great on deer also

These work great on hogs. Haven't tried them on deer. I would suggest keeping ot within 100-150 yards if want to drop them where they stand. 120 gr Tac-TX
You sure those are 120gr? Mine of those are all 110gr I believe.

For some reason I thought the op wanted to use subs, for supers I would use those Barnes loads. That's what I have been using.

Was in the same boat, I’ve read good things about Speer Gold Dot 300blk 150gr bullets. After much research, the key data point is the minimum velocity for expansion. Plenty of 30 caliber bullets to choose from, but many hunting projectiles will fail to reliably expand at lower Blackout velocities...

Ordered a few boxes off the Gold Dots to load up. Have a few loaded to test velocity and initial accuracy...now need an afternoon at the range to shoot them on the Labradar.

Can I use any 30 caliber projectiles or is there a specific diameter I should look for, for 300 blackout

300 black out is 30 cal. Like stated before though you will need to look at minimum velocity for positive expansion. 300 blackout is in the 2000 fps range where 308 is 2600ish. That 600 fps makes a big difference

Thank you this is more info than I gained just mulling around the internet for a few hours trying to figure out which projectile to get. I'll definitely look into a hunting projectile that has a lower expansion velocity.

I use Nosler 125 Ballistic tip (green tip) with H110. I shoot it out of my 9.5" 300 blackout and get around 2100fps. It's worked out well for me for the 4 deer I've shot with it so far. All behind the shoulder either lung, double lung, or heart shots. Furthest I've had to track one of deers shot with it is maybe 75 yards. I hunt in Virginia and my average shot distances are anywhere from 20 yards to 100 yards.

This is exactly what I would recommend, Nosler ballistic tips work great at lower velocity.

I’ve had great success with the Barnes 110gr blacktips. Make sure you get the ones specifically designed for the 300blk as work at the lower velocities.

Look also into the new Speer 150 Gold Dot bullets. I have not used them but they are spoken well of on 300blktalk forum.

In the end pick a suitable bullet that shots well out of your gun and place in the proper spot. You’ll be fine!

Speer TNT 125 hollow points over H110 powder.
My son has killed over a dozen deer with this bullet and it gets them every time. Good expansion and penetration.
