I know this comes up every 5 sec. I'm very new to shooting passed 200 yrads. Iv only had 3-9x50 scopes and im done with that. iv got a Remington 700 acc sd 308 20" barrel, krg bravo stock just put on. Now I want a scope.

I'm currently trying to decide between the Brownells MPO (5-25x56) and the Meopta Optika 6 (5-30x56). Those are 2 of the new kids on the block and come in at $999 and $899 respectively and have all of the bells and whistles. They are far from the only scopes out there but I'm expecting them to out preform similarly priced scopes that have been around for several years.

Vortex viper pst gen2 5-25x50. 900 yards.

Where is the glass made from a nightforce shv. Im in agree id rather not have Chinese glass

SHV's are made in Japan. The entire scope, not just the glass. I'd buy the HDMR2 over the SHV. It has equal or maybe a little better glass quaility, equal build quality, better turrets, better zero stop, better reticle, and with the current deal going costs way less.

Take a look at this quick comparison/review I did on the new Athlon Midas TAC. This scope is easily the equal of those twice the price and Athlon has excellent customer service. I need to come back to the review and give a range report but, I will just say that the tracking on this thing appears to be rock solid.

Athlon Midas TAC 5-25x56 APRS3 MIL FFP HD

Don’t waste your money on a NF or Vortex or Bushnell. Hands down best value in this price range is Quigley Ford.

It’s obvious these other choices are terrible or there wouldn’t be so many “help me choose my scope for me” threads that people ignore.

You want the best? You want Quigly Ford. Just ask anyone who’s actually used them.

If you haven't yet, head on over to The DLO (Ilya) "optics thoughts" page and lookup @BigJimFish 's comprehensive reviews of EXACTLY the category and intended use you're considering. It'll help you get your bearings, if nothing else.

I like their warranty. Are you satisfied with this scope and would it be a great fit for a 308?

I'll add my $.02. I have on on my current 300 PRC and I shoot it well past 1k. My new 300 will get a Razor and my current 300 will get rebarreled into something else (it's my tinkering rifle - likely 6.5x284). I still believe the PST Gen 2 to be the best value in its price range.

Thanks for the mention DJL2, my 2020 review blog thread has a link to all of the Sub $1k long range rifle scope reviews of the past couple years.

DMRII if you want 34mm tube and like the G3 reticle, max power 21x; good up to and beyond 1000 yds. This scope on a 308 bolt gun is a match made in heaven.

NF SHV F1 a little lighter, 30mm tube max 14x, with a more basic reticle. A great match for a shorter barrel bolt gun or a gas gun.

We run them both and they get the job done. Both are made in Japan with good glass and nice turrets.

I have both of these and use the Bushnell HDMR on a 700 AAC SD in 308 mounted in a McRees Precision chassis. The Night Force SHV is on an AR10 in 308.

With the sale on the Bushnell HDMR I would get it and start shooting. The retical to me is great and not to busy. The scope has wonderful glass and the mechanics have never let me down.

Just get Doug at Cameraland and go with it.

DMRII or PST GEN 2 in the price range. Have shot both and pretty close with slight edge for the PST G2 in glass and magnification. I didnt like the Gen1's.

Completely agree with the comment above on the Razor Gen2. An extra $500 gets you a big jump in glass. I prefer that over the XRSII, NF NXS and others in that range.

Just got my Meopta Optika 3 3-18x56 in Mrad, haven’t got it mounted yet but so far very impressed. Got mine for $675 I think, and for that price I think it steal.
