Thats more than 20 over and will likely go as Reckless, more serious than simple speeding. a quick Google search brought up this on Yelp. I like the looks of 'The Lawrence Law Firm, #3 on their list.

I've done that to all my cars except the Dodge Dakota I owned. IME 4WD trucks get scary loose above 90 mph.

Yup, here it's drive it like you stole it, in Germany it's drive it like you rented it. Pedal to the metal is just another form of cruise control. But you will be surprised how curvy the Autobahn gets at these speeds.

Having lived in VA for 20 years before fleeing, traffic enforcement there is 100% about revenue generation. Nothing at all to do with "safety".
Typically, the court is mostly interested in collecting the fine. Especially if not a habitual offender. A lawyer may be able to plead her case and offer to pay the fine and court costs immediately in exchange for a reduced charge. Possibly one that does not carry any points. Has worked for friends of mine before.

i just had the pleasure of paying ~$180 for 62 in a 45 near warrenton va. he was sitting right past where it went from 55 to 45.
look up tim bird, he has a practice in roanoke, if he can't help you sure he'll point you in the right direction.
wayyy back in college i got pulled on the va beltway doing 120 in my rs camaro. i was brutally honest with the cop, no drinking, and he gave me a ticket for failure to obey a highway sign!! my worst offense is the only time i did get a break...

Do you receive points for traffic violations in your state? I got pulled over for 119 in a 55 construction zone on my GSXR 750 years ago. I received a 20 point ticket. For reference you lose your license after 8 points. This was probably 18 years ago now.
Long story short I got a lawyer. Paid 2800 bucks all said and done. Ticket was reduced down to 2 points. I took an "Alive at 25" class BEFORE I went to court and just pretty much said to the judge that I take responsibility for my actions. I did not realize the other lives I put at risk other then my own going that fast. I was selfish. And I am changing that.
Judge said thank you for your honesty and being proactive in taking the class "pre court date". Reduced down to 2 point speeding ticket and paid the fine. The reason I got the lawyer is that at the time, without a drivers license I would have lost my job.
If your state just gives out fines and no points against your license, just pay the ticket and be done with it.

This is today. I guarantee she'll get points, but they will plead it down. Fuck, I got hit for 42 in a 25 in Charlottesville 18 months ago and the bill was $160 with court costs and all.
Pretty sure reckless driving in VA is considered a misdemeanor... best to get an attorney and try to plead down to infraction and avoid the criminal history.

I've been in VA courtrooms a time or two for reckless speed tickets, you need a GREAT attorney for a 100mph ticket. In VA over 90 is supposed to be 2 days minimum in jail per mph over and the judge has the discretion to suspend half of it so 1 day served per mile over. Also it's a misdemeanor so a judge COULD sentence for up to a year but that almost never happens. I've beat all mine but I know people who have gotten them over 90, were found guilty, and did jail time for it.
I wouldn't expect the judge to feel sorry for her for having a fight with her boyfriend in getting it reduced. 100mph is serious shit and even if you're not paying attention to the speedometer you know you're going really fucking fast. A judge would probably also say that one should not be getting behind the wheel when they're emotional and not thinking clearly and that it's no excuse.

A lot of companies like SCT for example make tuners for Ford vehicles and it's very common for people to use them on their cars for fuel mileage and not just performance. In the tunes they're usually set for generic tires sizes for the model and gearing, and they can also be tweaked with the module by the end user to calibrate the speedo for gearing, different tire sizes, etc. If this were to be off, you would want to take it to a VA speedo calibration specialist where they would test it on a dyno or road test with GPS and then give you a notarized letter saying that the speedo reads off by Xmph at Xmph and usually test at 3-4 speeds up to 70 or so and after that it can be calculated because it's usually a percentage. So you really should check to see if she has one of these tuners, and if she does, if it's possible she improperly set the gearing and/or tire size so that when it says you're doing 80, you're actually doing 100. If it's the case that the speedo isn't working properly the judge will usually reduce it to defective equipment, or reduce the speed to what her speedometer was reading.

All she has to do is wait. The rest of the country has ambulance chasers. In Virginia, they see it on the docket which is within days of it being written. Then they solicit their services by mail, because Yes Virginia, that public docket does contain your address.
My wife got papered for 80 something. Within weeks she got letters from eight or ten attorneys. That doesn't mean any of them are worth even return postage.

I honestly didn't realize it was even a big deal to be going that fast. I usually set the cruise at 78 or 79 during my commute on the interstate. Sometimes a handful of cars will get some kind of ridiculous pack mentality going, and they want to speed up, slow down, speed up all together...

There's nothing irresponsible, prima facie, about driving 100 mph on a freeway.
If that were the case, there would be carnage on the freeways of Germany. But the Autobahn's fatality rate is almost always lower than that of the US Interstate system.
I spent the better part of a morning in small county Virginia court over an expired inspection sticker ticket. Something like 3 reckless on the docket that morning, every one of which left in handcuffs. I was pretty stunned. No idea on past offenses, but that judge sentenced every one to at least a week.

The irresponsible thing is going blatantly over the posted limit. I could give two shits about going 100+, most have been there more than once. Ever lived on post? Zero tolerance. Speed limit is the limit. If you want to coddle your kids when they mess up, giver hell.

The entire state is one huge fucking speed trap. I remember driving down I-95 one weekend and there was a VA trooper running a speed trap every mile for like 25 miles. Dozens of cars pulled over for the unpardonable sin of driving 60mph in a 55mph zone. One of their bullshit "safety" initiatives they are so fond of. Radar detectors are outlawed too, even though I ran one every day. Saved my ass dozens of times.

Now days you can use Waze for that. It works pretty well.
I run it most of the time when I drive and you can warn others about revenue traps along with lots of other dangers and issues on the road.

If the state were focused on safety, it would prioritize enforcement of lane discipline, tailgating, distracted driving, and aggressive driving at the complete expense of speed enforcement.
Highway patrols have been brainwashed so hard over speed that they cannot even grasp how counterproductive their efforts are. And then they take credit for fatality rate reductions that were driven by factors completely outside their control or influence.

Really, you got 135 out of your 944? Impressive assuming it was an "N/A" model!! I had an 85.5 model (aka same dash and suspension as your 86) and I think it may have seen 125-130 tops at Roebling Road one year. I wanted one track weekend on it instead of the real track beast. Way back in the day.

Speed limits should be set at the 85th percentile, not some arbitrary limit chosen to enhance revenue.

But since you insist, I do happen to pass an elementary school every day to and from work. It's on a state highway with a 55 mph speed limit (which is inappropriate in itself), except during the times when it's congested with people dropping off or picking up pupils. Then a light signal changes the limit to 20 mph.
When those yellow lights are off I pass right by that school at 60 mph, unless traffic at the intersection dictates otherwise.
You should go educate yourself on how speed limits are set based on engineering surveys.

That's a personal decision to be made by every parent. It's none of my business and not the subject I was discussing.
I'm also not going to enter into a technical/engineering discussion with someone who apparently has no grasp of the subject. If you want to have a rational dialog based on widely accepted traffic engineering principles, I'm your huckleberry. If you want to use emotional arguments and cliches, find someone else.

My Focus does 150, the ST version of both cars are super fun to drive.
I test drove a Fiesta ST and it was a stunning car. Unfortunately the driving position sucked balls for me. The Focus ST is incredible and the RS is an absolute monster.
Ford lost me as a potential customer when they decided they were too stupid to figure out how to sell us interesting cars and instead settled for SUVs and trucks.
