I am curious if anyone is running a necked up 408 Cheytac to 416. Is it worth the effort to get the better bullet choices at 416 and the higher weight bullet choices? What kind of speeds and barrel life are you seeing?

Look at the Badlands 400gr 375 bullet. For the 416, look at their 525. Better bc and easier on the walletYeah, last time I ran the numbers on the 41XC at 2850fps with a 500gr CE Lazer, it runs right with the 400gr 375 cal CE Lazer at 3050
They'll work, but when you can get a better performing projectile for less cost, why not? The A tips haven't really been out long enough for anyone to do much testing with them yet that I've seenThe 500 & 550gr Laser are no bueno?
I know this is an old thread but I happened to stumble across it looking for something else. I been shooting a 416 CT for a couple years now, my current fav load for the Hornady 500g A-Tip is 132g of Retumbo with F-215M primer in a BAT model M action fitted with a 34" 1 in 11" twist Lilja barrel, MV is avg 2867fps, my best groups so far is .45 moa. No high pressure signs, extraction is easy. I recently picked up some Viht N-568 powder, burn rate is similar to Retumbo, so I'll give it a try.I am curious if anyone is running a necked up 408 Cheytac to 416. Yes, I agree on the N-568 granules, they are large enough to jam my electronic powder dispenser, I have to hand spoon the stuff in.I run the 375 CT with 400gr Lazer with 131.5 of N570. Very accurate load. The benefit of using N568 or N570 is better case fill as the grains are so much larger the Retumbo. I have only had one hang fire and that was with Retumbo so having good case fill is important.
