question for those that have bedded a v-block chassis

    I'm considering bedding my Magpul Hunter (don't want to turn this thread into a do/don't do it). I've only ever bedded pillar stocks and the pillars typically sit proud of the stock material by 1/8" or so the pillars are still the main support system - the bedding material fills in around the pillars and only acts as stability. There's no way to do similar when bedding a v-block (w/o the use of a mill to remove material). If you've done it , have you had any issues not having direct action-to-metal contact?
     
    If you skim bed the chassis you still have metal to metal contact between the action and chassis. It's just the contact is on the sides of the V and not on the bottom at the action screws. It's also why shooters sometimes have issues with consistency because when the rear action screw is torqued it wants to draw the rounded rear tang down into the V and stress the action. Skim bedding the chassis will leave you with two contact points at the front and two at the rear but with a much better supported tang.

    Why would you not bed the recoil lug at the same time as this. Especially on the magpul seams like it would only make it better
     
    I fully bedded an HP Precision stock, which uses a v-block system. In my case the v-blocks were not properly set into the stock, making the rifle a 2-3 moa blaster. After properly bedding the whole action and taking the stresses off of it, it is a one raged hole 100 yard gun. Though it doesn’t see 100 yards unless I’m doing load development. It’s my .338 LM ELR fun gun.
     
    Pretty sure MPA's aren't V blocks. They're supported under the front and rear action screws and the long sides of the action are unsupported. Still easy to skim bed, but a different design.

    I termed V block as a universal description. but the chassis's use a V style contact with the action... but not the "traditional" v block
