Did a search on this, and most recent info I could find was from 2014, so not sure if there's any inputs to that?

I purchased a used 2017 AXMC a month ago with a .338 LM, .308 win, and 6.5 CM barrels. I have only shot the .308 win barrel at this point, but was curious if anyone uses different scopes for different barrels? I was thinking I could use one scope for the .308 and 6.5, and have another set up for the .338 LM? Am I over thinking this? I appreciate any input as this is my first AI.

I have a S&B PMII mounted on it now

I would love to take the .338 past 1000k, but no ranges close to me that have that. Was gonna look at getting a Tarac in case that happens.

A stupid question, but if I use the same scope, just adjust and rezero?

I was hoping that there was a simpler answer then what I was making it out to be. This is my first multi caliber rifle, so trying to learn all I can. Thanks for the input

Yes, you can just rezero. Write down the adjustment to make the change faster without go to the range. Another option is to use the zero offset that's in some solvers. Zero your scope to the caliber that shoots lowest, most likely 308, then your 6.5m will have a +0.3 MIL offset at 100yrd in the solver.

OK, gives me a couple options to toy with. Hopefully can get to the range this weekend and play with it?

You shouldn’t need a Tarac unless you’re going ELR distances. Depending on your mounted inclination, you should be able to do nearly 2K with just the internal adjustment of the scope.

This is what I’m in the process of doing right now. I have 2 AXMC one for SA and one for LA rounds. Trying to log everything to figure out the offset.

I guess if money wasn’t a concern you could buy a scope for each caliber, but that would be a very costly way of doing it.

Right now that's more a wish then reality, but still hoping to one day

I do have an extra scope, but I'll try what has been mentioned. I think I was just making it overly complicated in my head.

And now that I have finally bought an AI, money will be a little tight for a while. HA HA

The kind of scopes that belong on that rifle are easier to rezero than it would be to change them.

Sage advice.

AXMC has 30MOA rail on the receiver. With a PMII you have more than enough internal travel to take you to the limit of a 338LM. Hell, at 1000 you're only at about 7.8-8.0 - not even into the second rotation yet. No need for any external travel extension devices.

This is your answer

AND YET - you would STILL have to re-zero each time you switched scopes. You gained nothing but lost a lot of money buying scopes you didn't need.

The ability to shoot three calibers with one top tier optic is one of the biggest advantages to the AI system IMHO. I’d record your different zeros and move on.

Thanks for all the inputs fellas. Looks like I’m gonna have to stick with my S&B and suck it up and shoot it more and record the data. Damn, sucks to be me huh? Lol.
