SR primers VS LR primers

I have consistently gotten better statistics from small rifle primers over large, but barely. Also, since I'm using an optical chrony, those results could be skewed too. my issue is I have a 5 barrels worth of LRP and a couple of bricks of SRP, so it's large for me no matter what. I saw small pistol primers popped up on ammoseek, $225.......per 1000 , can't remember the retailer.

No, as far as I know Large pistol primers is the same diameter as small rifle primers.

My SRP Lapua brass lasts much much longer than LRP Hornady brass. I get 3-4 loads out of Hornady before the primer pocket will not hold a primer. I'm up to 8 loads on Lapua with the same load. I also get lower SD and ES with the Lapua, but that may also just be brass quality.

One issue some have had is unreliable ignition in cold temperatures. I have not experience that with Federal 205M, even down to 0 degrees Fahrenheit.

Can small pistol primers substitute for small rifle primers?
Elvis ammo just did a video on this, he didn't blow any primers, but the cups are supposedly thinner on small pistol primers, so you gotta watch pressure and or slam fires on semi autos with floating pins. I'm going to try some powder coat cast with SPP with trail boss in my 223 bolt gun, keep them subsonic, then explore higher speeds and expand to jacketed bullets and different powders.

This is almost 100% due to brass quality. In my 300 PRC, when Hornady was the only brass going, and before I found the light and fire-formed 8x68S brass, I'd get primer pockets giving out at as early as 5 firings, and getting loose at 4. The max would be 6-7.

I saw similar for the limited time I used Hornady in my 6CM. As soon as Lapua came out with their 6CM, I didn't hesitate to upgrade.

Hardly a fair representation.

Your LRP Lapua brass would last longer than your LRP Hornady brass too.

I have both (Lapua SRP/ADG LRP) so in the off chance I ever run out of SRP I will use LRP.

If I can get a comparable load ES wise in H brass I will load it for when I may lose the brass and not worry about it or don’t mind torching packets with a hot load (hunting etc).
