I watched "The Birds " on TCM Sunday night. Just thought I'd point out what age does to the male brain. The movie was made in 1963 Three actresses. Tippy Hedren age 33,Suzanne Plechette age 26 and Jessica Tandy age 60. As I watched I kept thinking that Jessica Tandy was a good looking woman. I guess my mind does that because a younger woman would just kill an old man anyway.

I predict in the not too distant future, we will wait months to have a tech LOOK at our vehicles. Labor rate will exceed $250 per hour and flat rate will be a thing of the past. Capitalism at it's finest. Product, market, need, supply, demand. I think it's fantastic, but thats just me. I don't pay money for that shit, but I understand the entrepreneurial value of this.
That day has already arrived. About twenty years ago my wife and I were hosting 17 family members for Thanksgiving. About 11 AM the guest bathroom toilet overflowed. We could not uses any water as I discovered it was even worse in my basement workshop bathroom. My wife was hysterical. Started calling plumbers in the phone book, with most not answering or telling me they could not help.
Finally got one guy to agree to come out. He arrived in a rust bucket van belching smoke. Looked like he had been in a grease pit and needed a bath.
In the back of the van he had couple of pipe wrenches and a very few other tools. He pulled out a 100 ft drain snake and found the access port in the basement and pushed the clog onto the septic tank. Pulls the snake out without using gloves, rolls it up and carries the dripping mess to his van.
As he is wiping his hands on a rag that was black but could see that at one time is was white I ask how much I owed him. He had arrive within about 20 minutes of my call and it took him less than fifteen minutes to clear the drain.
He tells me $200.00 cash or $250.00 if I write a check. He sees the displeasure on my face and laughs when he tells me its a good thing that it is not a holiday on a Sunday because it would have been $300.00 cash.
