How’s the Laird’s compared to other apple brandy’s you’ve had? Craft or home made. I’ve been eyeballin it for some time.WT 101, VOB, Age stated 6 yo Fighting Cock and finishing up with a couple of glasses of Laird's Bottled in Bond Apple Brandy.
Given no age statement on the Laird's = 4 years old. The interesting part to me is since is an open bottle it developed just a hint of the pepper that I get with any of the older Laird's products or with an older Calvados. IMO older is not better with apple brandy,
My only other comparisons are Cavaldos. As I've stated older isn't necessarily better with it, it gets sort of a peppery taste rather than fruit. How’s the Laird’s compared to other apple brandy’s you’ve had? Craft or home made. I’ve been eyeballin it for some time.
So it's a 12yo that's been double matured in Amontillado casks... it all sounds pretty rich. What's your verdict?
I recently got a bottle of that, it’s pretty good. I’m eyeballin that steak more though…
I think it's really nice after a long day. It has a pleasant mellow finish. I also enjoy Long Branch by Wild Turkey and High West Prairie Bourbon.I recently got a bottle of that, it’s pretty good. I’m eyeballin that steak more though…
I’m fairly new to any type of whiskey so I’m not the best source. I don’t drink too often so my only rule is not to buy cheap shit, just like the beer I drinkI think it's really nice after a long day. It has a pleasant mellow finish. I am relatively new to bourbon and would love to hear about others choices.
I love to have a drink while cooking. Tonight it's Blanton's & BBQ.

I saw the D.O. at the store earlier tonight. You'll have to let me know what you think of it.

So how does the lesser char taste?
Not following lesser char.So how does the lesser char taste?
Toasted means a lesser degree of char on the barrel. Not following lesser char.
It’s very spicy and drinks hotter than 110.
The toasted barrel finish imparts some vanilla. It’s good overall. I like the port wine finish also.
Interesting. Thanks for the education. I have Michters toasted bourbon and rye cask strength as well. Both delicious and better than this but never new. I actually thought the head was toasted more.Toasted means a lesser degree of char on the barrel.
yeah... not quite understanding the horseradishSo many reasons this is just wrong.

Pretty sure you snort the horseradish, throw the salt over your shoulder and drink the shot.....yeah... not quite understanding the horseradish
I mixed some William Larue Weller with homemade vanilla bean ice cream at a restaurant once and it was unfuckingbelievable. It was mislabeled on the menu as $18/1.5oz so I ordered a double and ultimately the bartender honored the price. So many reasons this is just wrong.
