Maggie’s What are you drinking right now!?

WT 101, VOB, Age stated 6 yo Fighting Cock and finishing up with a couple of glasses of Laird's Bottled in Bond Apple Brandy.

Given no age statement on the Laird's = 4 years old. The interesting part to me is since is an open bottle it developed just a hint of the pepper that I get with any of the older Laird's products or with an older Calvados. IMO older is not better with apple brandy,

How’s the Laird’s compared to other apple brandy’s you’ve had? Craft or home made. I’ve been eyeballin it for some time.

My only other comparisons are Cavaldos. As I've stated older isn't necessarily better with it, it gets sort of a peppery taste rather than fruit.

From a purely American standpoint buy some. The same family has been making it since the late 1600's here, they are the oldest commercial distillery in operation in our nation. I think the 7 1/2 year is their best offering, but I like the Bottled in Bond as well.

I recently got a bottle of that, it’s pretty good. I’m eyeballin that steak more though…
I think it's really nice after a long day. It has a pleasant mellow finish. I also enjoy Long Branch by Wild Turkey and High West Prairie Bourbon.
I am relatively new to bourbon and would love to hear about others choices.
I love to have a drink while cooking. Tonight it's Blanton's & BBQ.
Char Sui Japanese style slow roasted pork.

I’m fairly new to any type of whiskey so I’m not the best source. I don’t drink too often so my only rule is not to buy cheap shit, just like the beer I drink

I don’t have a very sensitive palate yet so the only differences I can taste are the really obvious ones, like the difference between a smoky scotch and something that was aged in rum barrels at some point

Sorry I’m not more help. Happy drinks and happy holidays to you too

Toasted means a lesser degree of char on the barrel.
Interesting. Thanks for the education. I have Michters toasted bourbon and rye cask strength as well. Both delicious and better than this but never new. I actually thought the head was toasted more. 🍻
Apparently the Michters is done the exact same as US Small Batch the then put in the lesser charred (toasted) barrel for additional time.

Very limited edition Old Elk Infinity Blend @ 114 proof and 127.3 proof EH Barrel Proof. Cheers🥃🥃

Stuck at work tonight and drinking on duty is still frowned upon here- but you're making me thirsty! I've got the Smokewagon and EHT Single Barrel open at home. So tomorrow, well, you can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning! Great collection!

Well after driving an hour to the hospital this morning thinking water broke because water running down leg for 4 hours and Dr telling us to come..we get there and they tell us that it didn't and send us home...due date was yesterday..we are finally back home, relaxing, prime rib in the rotisserie, and enjoying a nice OWA 107 store pick....

See if we make it to the induce date, Monday 27th.. Merry Christmas 🎄🎄
