As a kid, I attended a camp every summer from ages 10 to about 14. The counselors would take us on hikes and show us old tracks like above. There were sections where the rails had been pulled up and bent by union soldiers.

I got to watch him race at Firebird raceway in Phoenix. His last run he scattered Hemi parts all over the drag strip.
I remember seeing that at either Lions or Orange County drag strip when I was a kid. Yes…..I’m old.
