AT-XC LE/MIL status? Mile High?Ok, 6.5cm and .308 versions, no future currently with .223. No chassis system and eventual LE/Mil only on AT.
Have to try and check, booth kind spartan. IPA timeAT-XC LE/MIL status? Mile High?
The new AT-XC feature set in a little more detail includes the following:
• The action is 4OZ lighter than the old generation AT-X
• It is secured into the chassis system by 6 screws instead of 4 on the previous gen
• Gas vents on the action in the mishap of a over pressure event or bore obstruction
• The operating force of the bolt has been reduced
• Increased bolt lug area which increases strength and yield levels
• Improved surface finish for smoother operating of the bolt
• Bolt head has a retention system like the AXSR
In the states we will have the AT-XC as pictured above in I believe Red, Black, Sage Green and Dark earth. The only difference on the AT-X Mil is the foreend is short enough to accept a 16” barrel, comes with the B&T muzzle brake and the grip is different.
Sorry for the delay fellas!
I think they is what they said already, I think it was in the press release?Ask if they intend to eliminate the AT completely. Would suck if $6500 is the cheapest AI now

Legacy barrels (AT/AX/AT-X) still good to go with this new action...?The new AT-XC feature set in a little more detail includes the following:

Defiantly ask about getting spare parts for the rifles (AT) onto marketHave to try and check, booth kind spartan. IPA time
Yes, forgot to post thatLegacy barrels (AT/AX/AT-X) still good to go with this new action...?
Again, eventual LE/Mil only. Nice time frame given, ATI think they is what they said already, I think it was in the press release?
Agreed. About $5k is my limit.Ask if they intend to eliminate the AT completely. Would suck if $6500 is the cheapest AI now
Wait I am confused, so are we going to get the LE/Mil version? Or just the XC?Again, eventual LE/Mil only. Nice time frame given, AT
Reference the AT, they plan to drop it and only offer it to LE/MilWait I am confused, so are we going to get the LE/Mil version? Or just the XC?
Did they mention the axsa?Reference the AT, they plan to drop it and only offer it to LE/Mil
I didn't ask if I get back there, will ask. You guys that have been to SHOT know it's a huge freaking zoo, maze, rock concert, goat rope, cat herding and stampede rolled into one placeDid they mention the axsa?
I appreciate it . Stay safe man.I didn't ask if I get back there, will ask. You guys that have been to SHOT know it's a huge freaking zoo, maze, rock concert, goat rope, cat herding and stampede rolled into one place
Did they mention the axsa?
Yes but it mentioned the at as well and apparently it’s just le only.I am pretty sure the AXSA is the same as the AX308 right?

Very interesting to speak with, very informative.
Mainly talking about testing of bore obstructions and end user reloading adventures.Well, spill the tea, as my teen would say.
Lol, like to see pics of that.Mainly talking about testing of bore obstructions and end user reloading adventures.
He had them, amazing the stupid shit people doLol, like to see pics of that.
They only need one model of AT. Green with thumbhole stock. Similar to the old AW. There’s still a decent crowd that’s into the old school AI’s vs the new stuffScott S was there this morning. Straight from him, eventual discontinuance of the sa to commercial sales, but he said they are looking hard at the AT as its so popular. Very interesting to speak with, very informative.

I sure appreciate you asking for me! That’s an interesting answer…euro had a few axsa listed at 6500$. Seems like a no brainer over the new atxc for the same price.Scott S was there this morning. Mine feel similar but a little different. I never would have guessed the lift in the AXSR is lighter. The biggest side by side difference I can tell is on close the AXSR cams closed or pulls is noticably to the chamber.I can’t really tell a difference of bolt lift in my axsr vs my atx .
I feel seen. They only need one model of AT. Green with thumbhole stock. Similar to the old AW. There’s still a decent crowd that’s into the old school AI’s vs the new stuff
It’s honestly way over blown. If you’re running the bolt hard you’ll never even notice it.This sounds compelling to me. What I heard about the nasty bolt lift on the previous AT-X was what kept me from purchasing, even with that $1000 discount.
Using the “knife hand” (fellow KARATE MASTER lol) I find I have even more leverage if I place the thumb on on top of the bolt shroud when unlocking the bolt. Just an additional tip for @i_sAnd you can use your thumb on top of the chassis directly behind the bolt shroud to give you even more leverage and cycle faster.
100% to this!Using the “knife hand” (fellow KARATE MASTER lol) I find I have even more leverage if I place the thumb on on top of the bolt shroud when unlocking the bolt.

I'll take it off your hands for $100...now to process how I feel about owning a discontinued model lol.
Dude they're all fundamentally the same. Who cares?Milehigh may get the MIL/LE as they are the only LE dealer. AT-LE, AXMC-LE, etc...? Can someone confirm one way or another for us?

Shot at a yote last summer on the run with mine balanced on a truck door and never lost track of it in my scope. Hit him with my second shot at 400 on the run.
With that said in a bench setting slow firing its probably noticeable.
I prefer the adjectives 'solid and confidence inspiring' , and actually find the bolt throw quite pleasant, this is on a well worn in axsr.AI bolt lift and throw is hard and clunky. You can certainly overcome it, it's just not a pleasant experience. The experiences are night and day different between an AI and some custom actions.
For a low price of $6-12k, you can get a six pack on your thumbs and fingers.I knew the AI bolt lift was heavy, but man I was pretty shocked when I handled a friends AI after ~2 years of not touching one.
I get it, a good rifleman should be able to work anything. AI's are great rifles. There are ways as a shooter to overcome that heavy bolt lift, procedurally in how you run the bolt and grip the rifle.
But after getting used to really light bolt lifts on actions with timed triggers (like my Mausingfield + BnA combo), the AI bolt lift and throw is hard and clunky. You can certainly overcome it, it's just not a pleasant experience. The experiences are night and day different between an AI and some custom actions.
That's my hot take for the day. I think AI would be well served to make the bolt throw lighter and more refined feeling. It would only make a great rifle even better, IMO.

And yes, I've owned about every rem 700 clone out there. Many of those are nice as well, just different.
I've tried to stay out of this thread as I am currently unhappy with AI as a company, but we should really demand better support from them. That is what is killing my experience. I don't give 2 craps about the bolt lift (sample size of 1 and in the heat of competition or even slow-f-class, I've never had an issue), but what kills me in the unavailability of parts and upgrades. For a low price of $6-12k, you can get a six pack on your thumbs and fingers.
The bolt manipulation technique with the thumb pivoting off the stick/chassis has been a thing for like a decade. Idk why it keeps getting mentioned as if it’s new. If someone is new and shooting an AI, then they really shouldn’t have an opinion.
Fact if the matter is, my ATX bolt is garbage compared to my AXSR, MRAD, and Zeus (and my old shadow40 and Mausingfield that I no longer own). It’s not even close to the 90 degree throw actions I had (for obvious mechanical design reasons).
Instead of people saying “it’s not that bad,” maybe demand from AI a better product. You should demand from everyone you spend your money at a better product. LR is getting ripped to shreds because of their poor product and for good reason. Ironically, it’s not a $6k+ item either.

The issue is that a lot of people like the way the AI bolt feels. Sounds like you might have an outlier if you ATX feels that much worse than others. I've personally never handled an AI where it was even remotely close that I would call it garbage or anything like that. I personally like the way the bolt feels and manipulates.
"Demanding better" would imply that its not a pretty subjective matter, which it mostly is.
I agree 100% there's things AI doesn't do well and should be demanded better. But bolt lift/feel isn't one of them.

ANY other custom action I can get a 223 Bolt, Mag Bolt, 308 Bolt
I can get triggers in the 100-200 dollar range
I can Attach a Sling (FOR FREE!)
AI really needs to step up--I cannot beleive you can't put a sling on a $6000 rifle without spending more money (or in my case $5000).
Frankly thats asinine.
Bridges/hinges/rails all are near unobtanium to the average joe. We can't get parts so no matter how good the rifle is, we can't customize it or get the accessories we need. That's the real downside of AI. I have a day-job I can't be scouring the internet to get a hinge 24/7 or trying to find a sling attachment for $100.
I can walk into any Cabelas and get an mlock rail, or QD point for $20--everybody talks about keyslot--yeah its great except when there is No inventory. The greatest invention in the world is worthless if you can't deliver product.
We need bolts, accessories, and we needed them yesterday.
I know just get an AXSR where I MIGHT get a change at a different bolt.
Or you know, I could get an Impact, TL3, CdG, Defiance, Terminus and all the bolts (or Bolt Heads!) I need for less, slap em in an chassis and have cash left over. Several of those companies I can talk to the owner direct and have them hook me up or call a smith (shout-out to Bugholes) who can quote and build and help me out like a real customer. I may get stuck with mlock or kmod, but I'll have the gear i need to go shoot. And that's what I care about.
It really begs the question, what does the AT-XC offer that other custom bolt mfg offer, for less.
Ball is in your court AI.
No. It is that they want a spare bolt so it can be modified for 223 or magnum bolt face. There aren't really any ai bolts available. Are AT-X bolts not running up to par vs previous production runs of the AW/AT/AX action?

In case you missed it. Don't remember enough of the original thread to find it quick.
Accuracy International 223 conversion working
Anyone who has said that AI is not the end-all be-all for all applications is correct. They are a purpose built rifle that's designed to function in all conditions. From a competition point of view, they are indeed "less than perfect" as the heavy bolt lift and high center of gravity make them...www.snipershide.com
Cheers. My 15 AT takes about 8-9 lbs to lift the bolt when you drop the firing pin
My 22 ATX takes 12 lbs to do the same
Quality as a metric is massively subjective and the customer segments define what quality means. So, there can be segments of customers that have different definitions. Look at ASQ and ISO for the numerous definitions of quality. The issue is that a lot of people like the way the AI bolt feels.
