Sidearms & Scatterguns Guns and coffee

Ahhh, now I can deal with traffic

Been building this one for a while. Just got it to the point where it's ready for test fire so I took it out this morning and shot 50rds while tuning the ejector and extractor. Got it up and running. Still a lot of work to do. Thread barrel, DLC, stipple the grip, some blending and polishing, spring testing when I get the 220gr hard casts in. Tune a 126mm mag. But the fire controls, trigger, feed, extraction, and ejection are all good to go.

4.25" Kart 10mm on JEMs frame and slide. EGW parts, Harrison ignition kit.

Me too. Ha ha! I've been slowly fitting it for 18 months. I got a bug up my ass to finish it in December. I was about to buy a Colt Delta Elite and decided I should finish this one before buying another 10mm. I think I'm going to buy another Kart Xact Fit barrel but in 40 S&W so I can do a flush cut crown and swap barrels. A Fly 45 will live on the 10mm. 220gr Hardcasts at 1050fps.

.......Needs coffee!
Found this like-new 1988-89 S&W M29-4, round butt, case colored 3" highly polished
blue unfluted cylinder to be the stable mate for my 629-Backpacker.
S&W used both a Pachmayr and Hogue grip on this model, 5:1 mfg with the Pachmayr "Presentation" grip style.
The same Pachymayr grip was designed for the K frames, but it apparently fit good-enough to mount it on their N frames.
It's handsome. I have the Hogue combat grip to mount.

Just acquired a new-in-the box SA/DA shrouded hammer Smith & Wesson Model 49 no dash 1971-72 with mystical "floating J" serial number. The J-frame serial numbers prior, had the "J" leading the numbers. Apparently in 1971-72 S&W used up all their available sequenced j-frame serial numbers, so their solution was to "float" the "J" amongst the other 5 numerical positions until a better solution was secured. This one was resting in Cut Off Louisiana of all places. It's pretty handsome 2" 5-shot round butt.

Rounding out the old J-frame stable.

Right now it’s a window sticker and a Tshirt.

I looked into moral patches but I don’t know if I can get them cheap enough they would sell. Got to be a least sub $10 and it doesn’t leave much for our give send go.

If we bought in bulk and one of us took on the shipping and handling things would be cheaper. Tough with day jobs.

If any of you want morale patches so I can help you in that.

Damn that's gorgeous, who did the work? Looks like front strap checkering (25lpi?), a superb melt treatment, magwell, hammer, beavertail, sights, safety and trigger all aftermarket and refinished. Did I miss anything else done to it?

Well, you missed the French Border, the Ballcut, and I'm guessing some fine line treatment on the top of the slide. Just at a guess, a smith like Jason Burton. He does gorgeous work similar to that. Beautiful pistol, whoever did it.

Oh I noticed the ballcut but (maybe incorrectly) included that in the melt treatment I mentioned. But you're right- that pistol is gorgeous and for anyone that knows what they're looking at, there was a tremendous amount of time, attention, and love given to making it unique and 100% agree with you that it's absolutely beautiful.
