Favorite Hot Sauce

Talk about some "Angry Grandpa" farts that will cause flowers to wilt.
No open flames around that recipe for disaster. 🤣🤣

Not commercially bottled, but back in 1982ish at Michigan State University there was this little subterranean restaurant called El Azteca. They had a burrito smothered in chili verde sauce that wasn’t some sweet ass tomatillos crap. Was jalapeño chilies diced in a crema sauce.
Well, the Aztec found success and moved upstairs and their tortillas factory had a fire and now they’re just another mall type Mexican restaurant 🤬. The hunt continues….

I can’t speak for the taste yet, but I got this today from my brother for my 60th birthday. Thought it was pretty cool and thought I’d share. Even if the sauce isn’t great the presentation is fun.

Happy birthday and welcome to the club of us who are a few years away from retirement. But I am afraid it is like the last two weeks of deployment in combat. You have finished your enlistment, rotating out on points. You made it all this way without dying. Just get home.

For something that just has a really good flavor. I will say I’ve bought it before and it’s way hotter than jalapeño like someone dumped in a ton of habanero in the batch, and other times it’s mild. I always hope it’s another hot one when I re-up

As far as readily available hot sauce I have a couple. Mexican food I’m going with black label Valentina. Japanese I’m going with Huy Fang sriracha. Hot dog/bratwurst it’s the black label Texas Pete.

This is one that I was introduced to while still in school.

Since then, my tastes have expanded to include El Yucateco, Kick Ass, and others. Flavor trumps heat every time. Some of the better tasting ones are house sauces at little hole in the wall taquerias. 🤘
Then order el gallo, thank me later👍

I’m real picky on hot sauce flavor wise I tried and tossed a bunch because they tasted fake or off do to the added bs

The variability in the heat of jalapeños has always suprised me. You can have a handful of mild ones and a couple nukes on the same plant it seems like. I wonder if it's more prevalent in some of the newer varieties.

I know stressed plants make hotter peppers, but like you say it’s still weird how wildly the level varies. Technically watering them less should give you hotter peppers.

I'm tempted to give this guy a shot, don't know how good the sauce is, but I like his style.

I started buying this when you couldn’t get sriracha it’s pretty tasty, it sucks huy fong isn’t the same anymore since they changed growers

This is more garlic forward and has a little funk from fermentation it’s almost like a fish sauce flavor but in a good way

The Yellow Bird siracha is pretty awesome too, FYI.

I switched to Yellow Bird after Huy Fong had their issues. Yellow Bird is the best siracha brand I've tried.

Yeah, huy fong didn't change growers voluntarily. The grower decided to try to make their own brand. Huy Fong then contracted with a new grower for the same peppers, but a couple of years of drought fucked that up.
The 3 Mien brand is pretty good

It would help if you refrained from eating hot or cold garbage as it ruins your taste buds. However, I am sure you do it after you suck down some crystal so nothing lost there
I’m definitely taking the guy from the north East’s opinion on coonass pepper sauce to heart lol
