In my first attempt at shooting at
200 meters, I only used factory ammunition – ammo Экстра FMJ 13 g ( manufacture year - 1967 ). Tiny 3-shots groups at first, just for the initial test. I have to say that POSP 4-12x42 scope is not an easy one – with the vertical and horizontal correction click size of 0,9 MOA is already quite a challenge, starting from 200 meters. Especially when the Strelok ballistic calculator says that at 200m for the Extra cartridge the correction should be 2,37 MOA – with 0,9 MOA click how to set it
? The type of target did not help either - the diameter of the black field "9" is 38 mm - but it was the only one available at the shooting range - I couldn't use my usual targets with 1 MOA grid.

Scope zeroed at 100m. First 5 shots at 200m – No. 1 and No.2 fired with the vertical scope setting 1,8 MOA – 2 cliks – not enough, too low. No. 3-5 with the setting 2,7 MOA – 3 cliks – seems to be a little to high, but No. 5 went where needed, so I stayed with it.
So, the 3-shots group with 3 cliks setting would be 0,98 MOA

The final 3-shots group – 0,67 MOA – shifted to the right but I did not try to correct it.
I know that 3-shot groups are not reliable, but at the beginning I want to enjoy them and not to get upset with poorer results. A bit of trickery and self-deception, but the mood is better. I take comfort with the explanation that with a 3-shot group, if it is correct, it indicates the lack of errors caused by the rifle itself, with a larger number of shots in the group, the errors of the shooter are more visible than those caused by the rifle itself. This is a little bit far-fetched, but I'll stick to it

Once I've found the scope settings ( more or less suitable ), there will be time for larger groups.
