I’ve only driven Toyotas since 1997; 1989 FJ62, 2017 Tundra, 2016 TRD Pro 4 Runner, in the order of purchase. I bought the Tundra new, the others were used. I still have the Tundra and 4 runner. It drives my Volvo XC90 driving wide insane how much I don’t spend on maintenance and how reliable my Toyotas are.
I’ve read reports, however, that they are replacing the motors in over 100,000 new Tundra’s and the Tacoma guys are complaining about that new motor as well. I hope they get all that lined out as historically, they have been wonderful trucks. I have a lot of life left in mine as the ‘16 has 54K on it and the ‘17 only 40K. They both like their groceries, but they rarely need a mechanic. I was literally looking at F150’s because I wanted the option to put a third person in the front seat, but then found out Toyota was building a few trucks with a bench seat up front, a fold down center console, and a column shift. I was sold on that; I’m not sure they still do that.
Good luck with your new Tundra, I hope it’s not in the motor recall. There’s a reason you don’t see the camel jocks driving Fords, Cheveys, and Dodges in the desert……..they seem to want Toyotas.
