Wondering if anyone has ever had a Grendel Hunter upper and specifically a 6mm ARC? I am thinking about getting a 20-22" 6 ARC upper and in my searches came across them but never heard of the company but they got some decent reviews around on other uppers and I like the ability to customize it.

Assembled an upper for a coworker using their barrel, nickel boron BCG and a BCM receiver. Thing shoots factory ammo great, he's extremely happy with it.

I thought I read somewhere their barrels are Liberty or Satern produced?

It was similar in contour and flutes were nearly identical to my Liberty 6.5 Grendel from LoLo Tactical, as best I could tell without removing the handguard.

Thanks. I think I ran across that in a write up when doing some research.

I was just going to get a BCA 20" but then you all know how that ball starts rolling and that wouldn't do. LOL

I am not sure I would want a 22" 6 arc with rifle length gas system. Mine is +2. My 18 was +1 and my 16 is rifle length. I still have to restrict or bleed quite a bit of Gass shooting with a suppressor.

I never planned to suppress it so I wonder if I can get it running with adjusting the gas enough with a rifle length and 22"?

Well I ordered one on Thursday and it shipped already and should be here Wednesday so we will see how it goes. Should be a fun new toy. I got it with their 19" handguard and clamp on adjustable gas block so should be able to tune it some. Looking forward to playing with it some.

Keep is updated how it goes. Im looking to get a 6mm arc upper in the near future.

Let’s hope. I have some 108 eld ammo to shoot in it. If I can find a range day I may just move a scope over from another rifle and see what it does instead of waiting for the new optic.

Edit: Guess I should have read first, for some reason I thought it said 4 responses, not 14... 🤦🏼

Personally, I'd just build it myself, if I were you. You can build it how you want, and with the best parts out there, if you so choose.

I (re)built my 6.5G upper using the same Rainier Arms match upper and BCG, Rainier 15" Force handguard, & misc Rainier parts...But swapped in a 20" Faxon Match 5R Heavy stainless barrel & their headspaced bolt, and it shoots sub-1/2 MOA with handloads. A buddy just used a Faxon Match barrel and bolt in his 6mm ARC build, and it shoots 3/4 MOA with factory Hornady ammo... People talk shit about them, but sample size of 2, and both shoot lights-out better than any other AR barrels I have/have had...Including a high-end Satern 5R Match barrel.

Here's the best group I've gotten from my 6.5G since the rebuild...

If it shoots like my 20” 6.5 Grendel I think you’ll be happy. This is a 20 round group of Hornady Black. View attachment 8510480
Something about the Hornady Black. I hand load but always test factory ammo.
The SD/ES weren’t great but still shot 1.2-1.5 MOA from my Proof and 1 MOA from my prior Shaw. (Subtract the outlier and then the numbers match the accuracy) Both 18” 1:7.5.

I thought about it. I have all the tools to do the work and have done it with .223s before but I started pricing it all out and it was pretty close to what I paid anyways so figured less work and get a good upper.

The Grendel Hunters seem like a really good deal, especially if they shoot.

I've been spec'ing out a 6 ARC upper build with the components I want, and it doesn't come close to the price of the Grendel Hunter.

Got my scope mounted and added some arca to the bottom. Also swapped the stock out for a Magpul Lite PRS. Has the DNT 7-35 on top. Took it to the range on Tuesday and had some fun getting it zeroed and drop a couple rounds on the 550 yard target. Factory 108 ELD-Ms were about 2570fps on average. Only put 20 rounds through it but no FTF or feeding issues and it threw the brass in a nice pile about 6 feet away at 4 o'clock. Very soft shooting with the brake. So far pretty happy with the Grendel Hunter upper.

Went back out today to put some more rounds through it. I had 6 rounds of another lot of 108 ELD ammo so brought those out and shot the group below on the right. The group on the left is 5 shots with the clean cold bore shot marked. The 6th shot on the right group all the way to the right was the last shot and rushed so all in all I think the upper shoots pretty good with only 41 rounds through it.

I then went out to the 550 yard steel and put 5 shots on it. It was windy and I held just off the 3 o'clock of the plate and round went right there so I just went center and sent the next 4. Held the can of spray paint up for size reference. All in all I am happy with that at 550 yards.

Didn't update the other day but made it out to the range and shot it out to 1000. I easily hit the IPSC steel at 1000 and tried to shoot the 10" plate but the mirage was sooo bad and being on the second to last bench I couldn't even see the whole plate so couldn't call wind misses. I went to 900 and hit the IPSC and then went down to the little KYL. The largest is about 6" and then a 4". 3" and a 2". I held on the 3" to hit the 6" for a wind hold and actually hit the 4". Less wind than I thought so used that hold and hit the 6" and then went to the 3" and hit it. With last shot I took a shot at the 2" and missed it off the right edge. I will say I am pretty damn happy with this upper from Grendel Hunter and the Hornady 108 ELD-Ms.
