Heavy Sporter Criterion Prefit 24" 1 in 7" Twist, Savage 110 Action, MDT LSS Chassis
It was a 5 shot group, forgot to hit "ok" on the Xero for the 1st shot.
85F, 4000fasl, 33% humidity
None of the BLC-2 loads had a Std Dev lower than 15. H4350 gives lower SDs.
I am wanting to load 65 gr game kings as well, and have lots of IMR 4166 on hand. Does anyone have any load data for IMR 4166? Typically similar charge weights for Varget and IMR 4166 but want to be sure. Alpha LRP brass.Lapua virgin

1. Shooting 80-90s, what’s the verdict on twist? 7? 8? Somewhere in between?
2. Min barrel length? I’m thinking 22 with a TB Ultra 7 attached all the time. Anyone going 20 or shorter?

I’m running a 26” barrel in 1:7 RH Twist… I had a custom reamer made by JGS for my first rebarrel. I figured it would be best to get ahead of things for when the time is right. The reamer arrived and I got the itch to have a barrel cut to have ready to go.
FYI.. current barrel has just over 600rds through it. It’s a REM Heavy Varmint Barrel 26” 7 Twist. The replacement barrel is 26” M24 7 Twist.
As far as bullets go, I used to shoot Berger 85.5gr LRHTs and then switched to 88gr ELD-Ms. They both shoot light out.

Throat erosion.. I tied them when the barrel was new and I couldn’t get them to shoot good. I tried the Bergers then and it loved them. Fast forward 600rds and a little over .125” of throat erosion, I couldn’t chase the lands anymore and lost some accuracy so I revisited the 88s and they have a lot more bearing surface. I seat them .005 off the lands and get 3200fps with .25 moa or better. Now, the 88s perform the same or better than the 85.5s, performance numbers, BC etc. are the same or better and the price is less than half… that’s very hard to ignore for sure! So I switched to those and am shooting more for less with the same or better accuracy numbers.
Keep in mind though, every barrel is different and one may not like what another does. In this case, it didn’t like one over the other early in its life and later it flipped… I’m fine with that being that I can shoot twice as much for the same money.
What kind of barrel life are you seeing with the 22cm? Any worse than a 22-250?
I haven’t burned through my first yet but made another barrel just in case. I don’t know the barrel life yet but have been documenting for when it’s done. From everything I hear, they’re around 1200-1800 depending on how you treat them of course. I don’t worry about it though, it’s like a sports car, you don’t look at the price of gas or the mileage, you just drive and enjoy the experience.
I'm running an 18" 7.5tw 219 bore ace lt palma, always suppressed. More of a utilitarian hunting/target build at 10-11# all up. Shooting 88s and 90s, running 3100fps with H4350 or N555. I've had 3 22cm barrels now, 22in 8tw was the first, 2nd was 18in 7tw, this ones 18in 7.5tw.
I'm at 950' shooting 95 SMK's out of a 26" MTU PVA OBW 1:7 .219 bore. Shoots great @ 560 throughput.
Had some black friday deals so I went with a 1/7.5tw benchmark button rifled 6 grooves med palma for my 18in jack of all trade rifle on a ARC CDG with a xylo chassis for the 75-88gr weight range and I also got a carbon wrapped 1/7 18in for my defiance anti ultra lightweight hnt26 for the 77 lrx for dedicated varmint and white tail gun.
Going to use N555 exclusively with Alpha SRP brass.
Probably won't do much of load dev since the barrel life is short on these, I'll target for 3200 for the LRX, 80.5 and 3100 for the 88s which should be able 39-41gr of N550 at 2.65 according to VV, Hornady and QL

I shoot N555 in alpha srp brass, 18in 7.5tw 4gr 237 bore ace barrel. You're desired speed will likely require more powder. My barrel was cut with alpha 169fb chamber. I'm jumping 88s bout 50k at 2.71 oal, and with a drop tube, 43.5gr was all I could fit, 3150mv. Shoots well there but a bit toasty, dropped to 42.1gr and running 3040mv, all weather safe load. Just my experience with your exact desired load combo. Good luck!
Hornady match 6 creed bushing die with a .250 TiN bushing and an undersized button on the de-capper Then it gets ran over a mandrel.
I recently screwed on a varmint contour 24" Shilen 7.5 twist ratchet rifled barrel. I will report back on how it works with the Hornady bullets... I am planning to primarily shoot the 80 ELDx which I am hoping will also avoid blow up issues due to its thicker jacket. The initial loads will be with H4350 and Alpha brass.
Figured I would report back on initial loads. All loads shot out of a 24" Shilen Select Match with 1/7.5 twist on a Rem 700 action.
Used the 80 ELD-X and 64 Nosler Bonded. All were Alpha LRP brass with CCI-200's.
Both H1000 and N565 are a little on the slow side with 80's. Topped out around 3150 with 45 gr of each (they were equivalent), and this was a compressed load. No concern for pressure.
With H4350 and the 80's, I topped out at 38 gr and 3050 fps. I think H4350 is a bit too fast for maximum velocity.
The Nosler 64's got up to 3550 with 42.5 gr of H4350. Didn't try any slower powders.
Plan for next session is to try some N555, N560, and Superformance.

Just did a quick velocity test on the farm.
This load gets me 3200FPS with a very slight swipe.

For zero load development, I’d say that’s pretty goodThey should be able to shoot tighter, no?
For this specific build, 1/2 even 3/4 moa will do. It'll be the wife's coyote/white tail gun and it's topped with a S&B 3-12 with a fairly heavy P3 reticle on a HNT26 chassis.
I have another barrel inbound from my smith for my heavy ARC CDG that will be a dedicated precision build. I promise it'll shoot like yours.

I already have a lot of Lapua 6.5CM SRP brass that has already been necked down to 6CM. I shot 6cm in PRS for a while. I also already have the Redding FL bushing 6CM dies.
1.) What size bushing(s) should I buy for the Lapua brass. I was told by a friend to try a .252, but another friend said his was too tight with that.
2.) Any other issues I may have using the Redding FL bushing 6cm dies, other than the correct bushing size? Do I need a different seating stem? I just don’t want to have to buy another set of dies if I don’t have to. I no longer shoot 6cm so they are just sitting on the shelf.
I plan to try H4350 with 80.5 Bergers first as I have large quantities of both already. This will be primarily a coyote hunting rifle.

I did exactly what you plan to do for my first barrel break in. I necked down Hornady 6CM brass using a .254 bushing then used a .2225 neck expander. My loaded neck diameter was .254 using 75 grain ELD's over 38.4 grains of H4350.
Building a 22 Creedmoor, 26 “ heavy barrel. Plan to shoot Berger 85.5s using Peterson brass. What kind of free bore would you say I need? Figure I would use an alpha reamer (.120 or .165) was thinking the .120 but not sure how far I need to seat the bullets out to get some speed.

It will be a dedicated thermal coyote hunting rig so I’ll never shoot anything heavier than a 69gr tmk. Planed to shoot the berger 60 gr varmints, 62 gr varmageddons or possibly the 62 gr eldvt.
