You cannot expect to get top notch service on a mass produced inexpensive product. No need to create threads, cry or complain. Shoot and enjoy it or sell it and move on to a higher quality product if you want service. You are wasting time and bandwidth.
My 2019 APO 700 is serialized like all the other REM bolt guns I have from various years up to that point.
I’m sure the bolt is serialized and OP should get it back but I wouldn’t count on it being fast.
I put in a word with the RemArms customer service, and they had someone from management research this issue and call me back. I calmly stated my concern and he apologized. Said the rifle was not authorized to be returned to me in it's current condition. He doesn't know how that happened.
What will happen is that I'm getting a call tag and the entire rifle will be sent back to RemArms for a replacement.
It make take a few weeks for an order to me inserted in the manufacturing queue, but he promises either that will happen, or if a RemArms 700 Police LTR is not in the manufacturing cycle, he will propose an upgrade.
I want to again thank carbonbased for the his understanding and advice. I will keep the community apprised, but remember it could be
a month or two and then some.

I bought a $1700 dollar scope (used) and got it from the seller like this (this is the torx that needs to be removed to reset the windage). Looks to me like someone didnt have the right size Torx so used the next size up and banged it in, or used an SAE 'almost the right size' and fucked up the gear itself. Then, with it well stuck, broke it off (in the scope and now in me). When I complained, the seller accused me of doing it. Dealing with that now.
Understandable but thats not his job. If he did it and fucked it up then Rem says "You fucked it up, we aint fixing it."
There’s no SAE for torx but yeah, someone over tightened that. Probably used a torx from Temu.
This is why I don’t buy used optics. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, but because people are crooked, shady, cheap, ham-fisted, and retarded. And 9/10 if something is broke, the seller goes ghost, and it’s on your dime.
Torx bits get way over used, and it's fine till they snap. I bet it's not crazy tight, just crappy, overused torx bit/key. It's torx bit flutes are probably spiraled and that's what's holding it in. Ive used a dental/oring pick to get stuff like that out, but it was on more robust machinery. An optic isn't gonna take to kind to pecking and prying.
Tried that, and very gently a small pick, its wedged tight. Waiting to get it back for a trip to Zeiss to be repaired properly. Why people send stuff out when all it would take is to have it warrantied.
If you’re careful, you can get a spare piece of small scrap metal (1/8” dowel rod or something similar). Get some 2 ton epoxy. Mix a tiny amount, put some on the head of the screw, and stick the scrap of metal in it. Clean any excess, so as not to get any in or on the turret itself, just on the screw head. Let it sit 24 hours. Unscrew the screw using the piece of metal you attached to the screw. Call Zeiss, give them the scope model, tell themthem what happened, and that you need that 1 screw. Chances are, they might just send you a free one.
No waiting, no warranty, and you can use it in the meantime while waiting on the new screw. And u can break the epoxy or cut the screw off the very end of the dowel, and you still have a perfectly good piece of dowel.
Also just had an older remington in the shop today for a small repair.....same stake marks from the factory. Nothing wrong with it. I feel ike the OP is just whiny and is like my wife.....NEEDS to find something to complain about or isn't happy.

May WE never hear about your simple to fix at home gun problems (loose trigger pins) with a factory rifle built by a known questionable quality source, creating an even bigger issue after sending the whole gun in for a simple fix, again, when [had you not been a cheap ass] with a slight bit of ingenuity, you could have fixed it at home yourself, or contacted a real gunsmith to correct the problem, and never had to deal with any of this nonsense.
Your post appeared like you wanted genuine help in fixing your rifle, which is what we tried to offer you, when all you really wanted was a a hollow echo-chamber to vent and bitch. So, I wouldn’t start throwing stones about who’s posts and help attempts were more useless, versus useful…

Except the fix is completely acceptable and he is still acting like a spoiled karen. The bolt missing sure, that one I will give him.
If his rifle came from the factory with stake marks he would have never questioned it. He just wants to piss and moan and get a hug.
I've saw 1 stake/peen mark per pin hole before. OPs had like 3 and it did look sloppy done, so I can get his frustration. I'm sure in his head he was expecting a high tech whiz bang fix, and did not expect to see 3 strike marks near each pin. I'm sure that was a rude awakening for him, but that has been the common fix from rem and top gunsmith on loose 700 pins.
A cool fix would be normal size pins with one end having slightly raised splines. Problem with that is some people would try to drive it all the way out from wrong side and mangle trigger. The peened holes is the simple correct fix.

Every production company and I do mean every company has quality escapes. The company I worked for had them. We apologized to the customer and RMA'd the product back and replaced it. This rifle had loose pin holes and was fixed in a manner that is common (on older used rifles) but is not normal for a production company that prides itself on quality.

That’s the point. Remington DID provide the customer service, and fixed the rifle in a very common manner. The only real legit gripe he had is that they forgot to put his bolt back in the gun. But he’s bitching about how they fixed it, despite the repair being entirely hidden under the stock. Peening The area around a pin to tighten the fitment is not just common in this scenario, it’s very commonly used in the metal fabrication industry, as well.

In the end, OP is the customer of this rifle and he wasn't happy with the repair(no matter how common it is on 700s). I suppose rem cs decided to replace the rifle, which I guess they can salvage all components from except receiver. I assume they bandsaw that receiver since it's serial number has been logged in?

While I think it’s sort of stupid to waste a whole rifle, when they could just simply headspace a new bolt to the action (supposedly the new QC is stringent enough to accept prefits, so they could theoretically just mail him a new one), it is what it is. I honestly couldn’t care less. It’s the fact the OP was crying about the peening marks, when they will never be seen by anyone unless they remove the action from the chassis. Were they on the top side, I could understand being a bit pissed about it.

Glad Remington sorted it out. I agree with you and Remington that is not an acceptable repair in 2024. That is how Remington rebuilds their reputation for quality. Not by doing a half ass repair to a poorly made product and sticking the customer with half ass repaired new rifle.
