No, not at all.Is it too early for Friday redheads? Sorry, no pictures.
Nah, that car is fucked. The door took the most damage obviously but everything immediately around the door is caved in some. The quarter panel/door jamb are caved in and will need to be completely replaced. Because the quarter panel and pillar are smashed in the roof and floor are tweaked some also. Roof and floor may just need some small pulls on a frame bench but once an accident gets that far the dollar signs start adding up quicklyNot seeing 30 to 35 grand for straightening a frame 2 new doors some metal fab and paint.
But I’m not a body fender man so I may be out in left field on this.
But if you notice it really looks like it’s just the 2 doors are stove in.
The frame might not even be bent.
Yea, it makes a lot of sense. To be right you would have to replace everything.Nah, that car is fucked. And the labor cost to pay someone who really knows what they’re doing as opposed to some monkey who can sort of make a fender straight and flat again. I spent a brief stint as the mechanic in a body shop but got to work with a few guys who were absolutely amazing. They could really work some magic on body panels but they certainly weren’t cheapYea, it makes a lot of sense. To be right you would have to replace everything.
around the doors.
I get how things can start to get carried away quickly $$$ labor cost.
It definitely ain’t the 80’s anymore.
Hell you could find these type of cars for $ 5000 dollars back then.
I bought a totally clean straight 67 Chevell in 1982 327 3 speed on the floor minor engine mods for $ 2200 bucks.
It blows my mind what kind of money they are asking for the classics nowadays.
And the kind of bread you have to shell out to fix them.
Yea so I was grossly off the mark again, lol.
No big, at least it’s not my ride !

It’s a deep rabbit hole, and mesmerizing watching a true master craftsman ply his trade. You will get sucked in.
So cool to watch him build the tools needed to repair or fabricate parts. Hell, in some cases building the tools, to build the tools!

About 30 years ago, my Dad gave me one of many life lessons.
Cheap, right, fast. You can only have two of them.
Anyone that is very good at their trade is right and fast. You pay the man.

Two months ago, the water pump on my Cummins was going out. I figured it would take me 6 to 8 hours to swap it out. Instead, I hired a friend that is a mobile mechanic. He came to my shop and took care of it in 3 hours. He charged me $100 an hour. I often make $100 an hour doing what I do. So, the math was easy. I paid him and told him thank you.Yup. It's all about "time." And how much time (which = $$$) a person worth paying a lot can save you. Hopefully they save you more time/$$$ than you are paying them (and, thus, freeing you to have the time to make your own $$$), but...
