Thoughts on the Aero Precision SOLUS ?

Aero has the chassis model in 223 now with a sendero or m24 barrel. Not sure on twist though, can't find info on that.
Picked up my Solus obsidian action this morning... I had a big store credit there from an issue I had with an item, so I ended up getting it for $440 shipped. Couldn't pass that deal up.
Haven't figured out what stock I'm going to drop it in yet, but I've got a few other things I'm working on right now, so we'll see...

I heard a rumor carbon fibber is in the works. But I’m not affiliated in any way so it could be a rumor.

Yes, there is a difference in feel although it is extremely minute.
The bolt lift on the Obsidian is ever so slightly lighter. The overall travel of the bolt feels "lighter" too. Not necessarily smoother, just lighter like there is less bearing surface on the obsidian.
Either action is fantastic and you can't go wrong with either.
My sample size right now is only two so I can't really verify if this is universal across the board.
I just ordered another PVD FDE regular action so I will compare that to my other two samples when it arrives in a year or two.
FuhQ will be better equipped to answer this question as I believe he has more Solus actions than anyone on the site.

I’ll have to let you know when I finally get it built. I still have to figure out what stock I want to put it in. But just initial impressions after playing with it at the store while waiting on the 4473, bolt lift feels about the same, but smoother bolt cam-over, and the bolt slide is definitely slicker.

30.6 ounces still. They could have cut more out of the darn thing. I think a LP fuzion alpine port is 28.5 ounces so a couple ounces less and seemed like a little less aggressive cut.
I'd still happily accept one as a gift! Hard to pay considerably more than a tikka donor these days though.
They make a steel one that’s lighter than the ti one it seems? Why would anyone want the ti one in that case?
Had a Solus in an older (2018) BA Comp and it fit fine. No clearance or hanger issues.
Are you using a Savage takeoff barrel? If so I ran into that problem with one of mine I was playing with. My guess you should try a savage barrel nut since they are shorter in length.
Why not just run a shouldered prefit like the rest of the world that lives in 2024...
It's ridiculously fast to remove and swap/service your trigger with only a T15 torx bit. You don't need a bench vise, you don't need punches, you don't need a hammer, you don't need to worry about which direction you're installing/removing them from, etc... It just makes life so much simpler.

I could see that *maybe* being important, once in a blue moon. I'm sure other people put more value on it. Me, I'd like to be able to adjust out the annoying cock-on-close without having to grind on the fire control system. But I'm also sure people would probably manage to f$ck up an adjustable hanger and cause all kinds of CS issues. Still would have been nice.
Well, also think about it from a competition perspective... Your trigger shits the bed, you just run to your truck, pop 2 action screws loose, loosen 1 T15 torx, and push 2 small trigger pins out by hand with no tools required, and you have a new trigger back in there in a matter of minutes.
Somehow, I think the people spending $750 on a 'budget' action probably don't have a spare $200-300 trigger back in the truck. Just a wild guess. Some, possibly. Most, probably not. So again, I think it may be just a bit over-hyped.
Plus if you were going to have a spare trigger already in hand because that matters to you, wouldn't it make sense to have it already fitted in a spare hanger (they do sell them) and skip changing the pins til later?
And wouldn't it be even *better* if your spare trigger - or hell, even your primary trigger - could be adjusted for minimal to no cock-on-close? Not having the bolt close disturb the gun in position should be worth more points than a hypothetical trip back to the truck.
I have 4 (waiting on #5) of these actions... And I can afford whatever I want. Anyone shooting comps without spare basic parts (trigger, mags, etc...), is asking for trouble.
Possibly, on the spare hanger & pins preinstalled, but why? Those pins are not always super tight fitment in there, and can be easily pushed in with your fingers, and spares already in the hanger would most likely fall out anyway, bouncing around in a parts box. Seems like more trouble can just pusing them out with your fingers really quick and swapping them back in with the new trigger.
I agree, it would be nice to have a cock-on-close on these actions, but it is what it is... I don't shoot comps, so doesn't really bother me.
Okay, so coming at this from another angle... is there any other hanger (preferably adjustable) that would fit on a Solus action?
The problem is if you get debris in there, or IF it fails. I usually only take 1 rifle to a match but often and will probably always if possible take a second so if I have and issue the whole trip isn't wasted. I definitely take a backup if a buddy goes with me.

I ordered the .383 bolt as soon as it became available on the aero site, but given @FuhQ 's experience I'd be surprised to see it this year.

Can someone with the Solus Competition chassis provide the minimum LOP measurement for the stock?
They are...except after they run a sale.
Throughout the year, I periodically order small parts from them. They tend to ship next business day or at most, within two business days.
Anything that I order near a sale date takes flipping forever.
I'm not making excuses for them but their customer service portal through the site has over 130 customers waiting to speak to someone. I'm glad they're moving product and making money but so are other companies that are handling this far better.
Maybe just order it when things aren't on sale and the phone call and shipping volumes are low?

Am I factually incorrect? The last three 35% off sales resulted in my orders taking 30+ days to ship. There are a ton of other people here posting similar experiences.
Geissele is a similar experience during black friday, christmas, blemula sales. It is what it is.
There are other, big companies that don't have these problems. LMT, Primary Arms, and Optics planet were able to ship my black Friday orders in just a few days. All of the other smaller companies I placed BF orders with have already shipped.
The only real complaint that I have with Aero is that they don't respond to emails. The only option right now for any measure of customer service is their online help portal which is nigh impossible to use by anyone with a real job.
I hope they can improve. I'm a big fan of their products. If they don't improve, I will still continue to patronize them.
