So the Oster XL I had purchased for 39.99 four years ago it's on its last legs right now is the time to buy obviously. I'm looking for something large enough to cook a 12 inch pizza, a chicken, but most importantly won't catch fire. The model I had before is no longer being made; and what they are calling equivalent is going for 219.

I'm leaning towards Breville (900), or this new brand NuWave. Anyone have favorites or dislikes?

Everything like that is made in China and if it last 4-5 years I feel like I get my money worth... I now buy whatever has a shit ton of decent reviews on Amazon...

I bought a $100 toaster a few years ago, it didnt last very long. Restaurant supply, commercial quality, made in China, etc... We have a Kitchen-Aid toaster now. If it lasts 4-5 years, I figure I got my 60 bucks out of it.

Amazon has quite a few with over 10k reviews and 4.5*'s... Black and Decker, Ninja, Chefman, Hamilton Beach... Can likely get a 4-5 year replacement plan for pretty cheap....

    Buy cheap, buy often.

My ex-wife insisted on a Wolf counter top convection oven in 2016 when we refurbished our kitchen. It’s toaster oven size and is anything but a toaster oven. It’s a real oven and works that way for anything you can stuff in it. It was stupid expensive, but I literally still have it and it still works flawless. If what you’re cooking fits in it, it will do as good or likely a better job cooking it than your large oven. It’s that good, one of the best purchases I’ve ever made in cooking appliances.

Don’t let the price detour you, it’s really worth it.

We've had this for about a year, and absolutely love this thing. We use it a LOT, and it's still going strong. Makes the best damn bacon ever too. And this is better than the deal we got last year.

When we bought our Breville smart oven I thought we were crazy for spending so much on a toaster oven. 20 years later it still gets used every single day. Literally every day

I bought the top model for my mom about 15 years ago. She uses it every day and never uses her full size oven anymore

    Money well spent

i just got one of these on sale at costco.
shorter than others, but you can flip it on end to save counter space.
can't really give a review yet as it is still in the box.

^^ this, I just picked up a Ninja SP201 and its great, I would buy it again
It replaced a Nuwave model that was a couple years old, the Ninja heats better.

the fact that it is shorter might make it a better toaster, which i think has typically been the weak point for most of the taller ones we've had.

Got a Ninja something last year. It does like 12 different functions; including a reheat and dehydrate mode. Air fry, oven bake, all the things. Even with 3 kids, we ditched the microwave after. Thing is awesome.

While waiting for your post to open I was thinking back about how the toaster oven is one of the few items I've caught on fire inside the house, outside of a motorcycle, some light fixtures, a skillet, and yeah that's about it. However I see you specified your looking for one that won't catch fire so I'm of no assistance.

Can you not just use the stove?

Microwave with some dry ramen noodles will net a fire that is worth a story to the grandkids one day. Give it a try.

To the OP. I ended up using my toaster oven to heat gears so I could slide them onto the crankshaft of my 1640cc VW motor build, so I’m no help on which one to get. Sorry

Nope. I've definitely never heat treated 17-4 in the kitchen oven. It definitely doesn't hit 900 on self clean. Nope, not me.

So glad the wife and I bought all stainless appliances in the mid 2000's, they all still work. Still running a black and decker "countertop oven" from 2004. Toaster/convection/air fryer in 1, knobs instead of buttons, no brain box. Thing will probably outlast us both. Good luck in your search for a reliable piece of modern "manufactured garbage"!
