Rear end heavy. Suppressor and bipod help. Moving the bipod out on the fore end helps balance it out.

300WM today. Waiting on the 308 bolt from MH so I can get to the 6.5 and 308 that I have been shooting in the AXMC and AIAX.
I’m pretty sure the Proofs are a Sendero which is very similar to the M24.
I am intrigued by this weight savings, I think I need to put mine on the scale when I get home to see what it would take to get it sub 16.
How difficult is it to find the folding mechanism for an AT? Found a non-folder rifle but might want the option.
It's part # is AI-26616 so I'd try MHSA and Euro Optic. If that doesn't work try Sporting Services UK.

MHSA requires payment in full for orders, however, Sporting Services UK only requires 20% down (call them using Google Voice as it's cheap) and they get things faster in my experience so I'd go with them.

I am going to try to be here more frequently to field any and all questions for the community. I do have an actual job so I may disappear from time to time, but we all shoot here at MHSA...some better than others of course. But we all actually go out and shoot and value the community.
I will add that MHSA has been incredible to deal with.

I stopped looking once I saw the Leupold
The last photo shows US Army B4 Snipers who, in fact, were issued Leupolds with WMLRFs who then brought both with them to the competition, and then used in-country weapon systems i.e. the AW and AWM. So... You're close.
And yes, they are not illuminated. B4s gave a lot of input for the current contract and very purposely did not want the illuminated model due to repeated failures of that model in past optics.

I like the glass, the etching of the illuminated reticle, and the turrets, over the competition. Nightforce ATACR are nice, but didn't offer me anything over the MK5HD, and not a fan of their turrets. I was not a fan of the NX8 and it did not suit my eyes well. S&B was notably better than both with a notably better eyebox, but more than double my cost that offered little to me over the MK5HD. I've had zero issues with the current generation MK5HD and haven't found any faults with them, tracking or otherwise.
To this day, I don't understand the hate folks have for Leupold, even after extensive research, to include the era of GWoT Snipers running the oddball MOA/MIL Mark 4s on M24 SWS you ran which ... Yup, that hate was justifiable. That was a weird era man.

TBAC can getting ordered when I order the rifle. Just not sure which rifle to get him. If I can snag a 223 kit for the ATX then I’d get him one of them.
Had a MK5 before and have looked through plenty of others. The sight picture is small, the reticles choices aren't that great, reticles are too thick, and the glass was really sub par IMO. But I do like the ascetics of the scope.

Variety is the spice of live. Different eyes, different scopes. Else competition between companies wouldn't exist.
I have a lot of confidence in Chris Roberts with CR2 Solution who does technical advising for Leupold. As a man who spent many years as an Army Sniper then Army Sniper Instructor, I'd like to think that Leupold is getting all the right messages from what the community wants. It is for this reason that the Army still uses Leupolds today for their B4s. This said, my understanding is that the Nightforce ATACR can take more abuse. What that looks like, is beyond my knowledge... I haven't beat up any scopes recently. But no one wants to assault a scope like @Huskydriver seems to
The Mark 8 3.5-25x H58/59/T3 is when I saw Leupold mature. The MK5HD is just a revised Mark 8 with more refined materials. But yes: the eyebox is smaller than others, something that I hope they revise in future models.
None of this says anything against Nightforce or any other brands out there. But the Leupold MK5HD is the first scope I actually fell in love with all around, and their military discount makes them worth it. Retail vs retail? No, I'd rather get a low end S&B for the same price, or a Nightforce. So all said... I still don't understand the disgust or hate towards it. They've been great scopes and a great company to work with with amazing support when needed. And they really take care of the military/veteran community, let alone the B4 community.
