Only worthless shitbags have vicious, uncontrollable dogs (and kids). Pits are just much more likely to pop a synapse and do more damage when they do, than other breeds.
Had one as a kid. It was a stray we took in as a very young puppy because it seemed like the right thing to do. The dog was loved, cared for, never abused or mistreated. We trained him, etc. When he got older, he mauled my friend while we were playing basketball in the driveway and we had to put the dog down.

Interestingly enough some pretty good hunting dogs with high prey drives have very low human aggression factors.
That being said, kind of one day might need a dog that can take on the King's dogs and win and also be able to wear protection.

For sending a dog after a dangerous animal as a catch dog. You might want that dog to be a little "mean." Depending on the context that word is being used. You aren't looking for the personality and temperament of a family pet when looking for working dog and for good reason.

No shit!!!! When we ventured (around noon) to 6th street close to I-35, meth-heads, druggies, ragged out ho's, and pitbulls. Quite a few LE too; but Austin has gone to the loonies. I guess you have to go up towards Cedar Park/Leander maybe??? That area seemed fairly clean.
Perhaps dogs that are good when you have your property miles away from neighbors and are worried about wolves and hostile Indians are not the best dogs in a urban environment...
