Will suppressor cover sliding forward act as crown or mess with groups?

I’ve not had any problems with my AG (that weren’t my fault) but I’m not a high volume shooter.

I did not realize that the cover sliding forward could affect POI. Interesting thread.

It is entertaining to see a “range squirrel” jump out a few yards in front of the firing line. There’s usually at least one at every match🤣.

Silicone dish mat. Some Gorilla tape and some camo tape. I can get 2 covers from a $12 mat. Yes, I’m a cheap-ass. But my AG covers slide around too much. Depending on how tight you make them (so to speak) they don’t slide around at all. Very temperature resistant, and vented with ridges.

Overhang 100% messes with group size and shape. 25% or more in my testing. Hoody type designs like burn proof gear that overhang front are the worst, straight wall type ones like cole tac or rifles only that overhang are less affected.

Trick is to leave 1/8” to 1/4” not covered at front.

Jacob has a small blurb on his site on silencer sizing info section talking about it.
Interesting. I usually have my cover barely set back from the end of the suppressor. You’re saying that that’s too close?

Edit: like 1/16” or 1/32”

Most materials flex a little and stretch up toward front so 1/8-1/4 when measuring to have one made is a good rule of thumb.
Cool. My “cover” is a bit different and does not stretch at all. Well, I’m sure on the atomic level it stretches. It’s a discontinued Modtac vented carbon fiber tube that clamps on the suppressor. It’s just ok in some ways (need a tiny allen key to install) and awesome in others (doesn’t move, best mirage performance I’ve seen in a cover).

I don’t claim to be a suppressor cover expert, however. I’ve used three brands total.

Here’s my write up on it and Modtac’s new version (below), of which I’m a bit unsure of.

Sorry. Sarcasm doesn't always translate well in text. I've got a Cole Tac with metal buckles that I tighten down crazy tight. I don't remember ever having it slip.
I understood lol, I was going to tell you to go look at my profile pic. I kinda want to try those with the buckles, they kinda seem like they can be wrapped tighter.
