I’m thinking of investing on a 1550nm handheld RF with BT and AB. Looks like PLRF25 BLE X3 is the only one still out there? Is there others that I should be looking into? Not investing on any 905nm types. I’ve tried a few of them including some bino ones, and when the heat wave starts they just don’t give readings. Or give inconsistent readings. But when I range with my Raptar S, it slices through the heat wave and gives reading.

PLRF25c is going to be the only one you can be sure is reliable. It might even be the only one besides Raptar with onboard AB. I’m sure you can probably reach out to AB and they can provide a list.

But any others will likely be lesser known in the US civilian side and probably harder to find that PLRF25c.

There’s also the option to co-witness your raptar with a spotter if you want to save $10k or more.

Thanks.. I thought about mounting my Raptar to a spotter. But I would only end up with basically 2 spotting scopes. And I wanted something more compact for traveling.

What distances are you referring to that your Raptar does well at in sunny/mirage conditions?
The reason I ask is because raptors historical haven't been known for performing well in these conditions. I've personally had trouble getting full size ipsc beyond 8-900m in said conditions. That's with multiple units over the years.

Out of curiosity, what 905nm units have you tried?

Wow.. that’s weird. I’ve range between 1600-1700 on a steel plate through mirage without any problems. My Raptar is co aligned with my ret out to 2k plus yards. And still be able to range objects to 4000+ yards. Guess I’ve got a good unit.

It seems that the 830’s does not have AB? Or so I can’t find it on the specs anyways. But guess it doesn’t matter if connecting to a Kestrel. Solid RF bino’s though. I wonder how the auto focus work on these..

I used to have two pairs, there was a point when cost was sub $5k during covid. They are like magic, always in focus, always insanely clear, and the LRF is insanely consistent. I miss them. If you have the money, I would highly reccomend trying to pickup a set.

WHAT?! WH-WH-WHAAAAAAATT?!?!?!?

Eff me, wish I would’ve known. I remember looking at those at $8k and sighing.

I think we should all blame @TheHebrewHammer for not personally alerting us to this deal during covid lol

I’ve always thought it weird that they are only 8x. At least 10x for ranging 9400yds, Steiner, c’mon!

that’s crazy cheap! Especially for a mil spec LRF. Well I guess inflation took its course during and after pandemic. Like wish I bought 2 raptar S back in 21. If I knew these was gonna go up in price. 7900$ out the door from an authorized Wilcox dealer. And that’s for the high power model. Now what 10.6k for one now? Almost 12k for the new Raptar xe? I actually thought of getting the new Raptar xe. But having multiple rifles doesn’t cut it. So I’ve decided to invest on a handheld. Especially since I wanna start traveling to different ranges around the states. I’m still leaning towards the PLRF25 BLE X3. I want the AB on board.

After thoughts between the PLRF25 X3 and the Steiner 1530r bino’s. I settled and pulled the trigger for the PLRF through EO. They carry both, the Steiner’s were out of stock. Though really great reviews on the Steiner’s, and I probably would have gotten those if it were in stock. And about a grand less. But the PLRF has the AB. Anyway thanks all for your input. Will post pics when I get it. Anyone else interested in a PLRF25 X3, EO has a few left in stock. Hit up Euro.Conner here. Great guy to deal with.
