I read reviews on other Landman threads and everyone is saying what a flop episode #7 was.
It did reveal a Mexican following Tommy with NODs, not sure if it was cartel, Manny or both.
The fact they were at the daughter's party shows they either have a tracker on the daughter or on Tommy's truck.
Is the cartel going to kidnap and hold Tommy's daughter ransom for the money for the lost load?

I was talking about the spark from hitting Steel on steel as shown in movie. We would have used a cheater pipe, fiberglass wound, to get extra leverage on or close a valve. Not hammer steel on steel. The lady lawyer turned out to be a Grade A cunt. Make-up needs to pluck the Mexican widow's eyebrows as they come together to make a unibrow whenever she cries, which is often.
The swimming scene in the resevoir when the slut daughter's new boyfriend was Hollywood. The water they were swimming is called 'produced water' which is waste water from the drill hole and full of saline and all kinds of toxic chemicals.
The boyfriend talking about the greatest threat to the environment was humans and they have a plan to get rid of us too with another pandemic was good stuff.
The National Guard blowing the cartels shit up actually earned an applause from me. That was great stuff.

Basically 3 phases of a well. Drilling. Completion. Production. Hollywood and the world sees the drilling and the production. Few ever see the completion phase.
Produced water is correct.
It was either pumped down hole during the stimulation (hydraulic fracturing aka frac) ((part of the completion phase)) or is natural to the formation where the hydrocarbons are. In either case, it is 100% not safe to be swimming in.
Freshwater used for a slickwater stimulation is fairly benign...some friction reducer and some biocide is generally all that's used. Sometimes a surfactant or a scale reducer. Chems are generally added at the blender just before being pumped into the well. The water itself is drawn from what is basically a man-made pond. That water is potable with little more than a Lifestraw...very little needed to make it drinkable.
Pretty much gone are the days of using guar gels for stimulation but even those used freshwater with chems added at the blender.
Once that water is in contact with the formation, down hole, it will sit there for upwards of 3 weeks after the stimulation. It's hot down there and the water dissolves all sorts of minerals from the rock. It is not rare for there to be Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM). Selenium, molybdenum, barium....all sorts of shit, depending on the rock. This all gets returned to surface during the plug drillout and subsequent flow and pump to get the money out of the ground. Production. The vast majority of wells produce more of this shitty water than oil/gas. If you get this water on your skin, there is a high probability that you will develop blisters or a rash of some sort. This water is only drinkable after strenuous and expensive purification processes.
I knew it could also be radioactive. Those pits are lined for a reason.

eta- I may have spoke too soon. I just spoke with a buddy whose family made their fortune in oil and he said that big tank they were swimming in was fresh water that hadn't been contaminated yet. He said as a kid he was told not to play in the mud and cuttings that was pumped from the wells on their S. Texas ranch as it was full of saline and chems.

Yes...that is possible that it was a freshwater pit and pretty safe to swim in. We would have to filter out fish, frogs and algae. Those things might be food for ages old bacteria in the deep rocks and become hydrogen sulfide gas (or worse) when the water is returned to surface. That's the primary reason to treat surface water with biocides before sending it down hole, prevent making sour gas/oil.
Modern times, in most states, due to EPA regulations or the Texas Railroad Commission, produced water is separated from the money at the tank batteries rather than an open pit (lined pond). The tank batteries will have a bunch of usually vertical tanks. Some tanks will have oil and some will have water. In some areas, these are automated to send money to a pipeline and produced water to another pipeline for disposal or reclamation attempts. In other areas, tank trucks haul the stuff away...either to a place where they collect oil and send it to a refinery or to a waste water well. Or some combination of tanker and pipeline.
EDIT: There are still plenty of open pits being used and some are new. Usually have to have a permit of some sort.
Most waste water disposal wells accept that nasty (once drinkable) water without any sort treatment before sending it into the ground to never be seen again for maybe thousands and thousands of years. Some will scavenge oil or use filters to get some valuable mineral out of it. Rest assured, if there is a valuable mineral available, someone will find a way to make a dollar.

Yesterdays episode wasn't terrible but seemed to be a bit lacking being that they only have one episode left for this season. There's a lot to tie up, even to bridge to the next season for only one episode. I have a feeling next week's is going to be all over the place

What’s critical to tie up? To me it’s Monty’s status, alive or dead. If he is dead (which I am not sold has happened) Tommy will look to his wife. His wife would logically look to Tommy. They have already established a very warm relationship between the two. Hopefully she’s smart enough to take Tommy’s advice and send that freaking lawyer bitch packing.
If they skipped the women-drama (Monty’s wife’s drama not included. That fits.) that could be 1/2 hr show.

I've watched all 9 episodes of Landman. For the most part have really liked it. I find a lot of it to be pretty funny.
I'm no oil expert or a Texan, but I have enjoyed the show.......except for the ex-wife and daughter. Don't get me wrong, both are beautiful ladies and I don't mind major female characters. It's their character's persona and their dialog that is too over the top for me. Maybe I live under a rock....maybe I'm old fashioned, but my daughter would have her mouth washed out with soap, be homeschooled, and shuttled to-from church every service if she ever acted/talked like that to me or her mother. I have secondhand embarrassment from the things she has said in this show. If it was a cheeky one-liner every now and then it probably wouldn't bother me so much......but it is essentially her character's entire dialog during a show. I know she's way older in real life, but she's portraying a 17 year old high school student......

But the name of the episode was Wolfcamp and the symbolic wolf in the scene was a coyote which was more accurate than if they had used a Gray Wolf or loafer which are no longer in the Odessa area.
And yeah, 'yotes are also known as Prairie Wolves and part of the wolf family. Houndsman that run them with dogs are still called Wolf hunters by hunters with coon-dogs.
Even though I've trapped and hunted coyotes and have a pack living below my cabin that howl at night, I too sometimes refer to them as (Prairie) wolves and accurately so.
