The only time I really enjoy shooting handguns is when I take my kids out shooting. My youngest daughter is deadly with my S&W 52. I got my son an AMT Hardballer Longslide that he loves to shoot.
I only have 3 handguns left on my bucket list, a S&W 952 long slide, a Sig P210 long slide or a Sig P240, but I am not going out of my way to look for them.
beautiful. not a great out but gets an A in courage!
somebody else that hates HG shooting! i did it competitively in my 20s. but now i avoid it with the usual excuse that i don't have time because i HAVE to shoot 4 rifles.

Fire whirl seen last night over LA. Similar to dust devils, which are formed by convective heating of the air by sun baked surfaces over the course of a hot summer day, fire whirls are convection fueled rotating updrafts of intense heat that can reach F2-F3 strength in rare cases. This one was at least F2 intensity going by it's speed compared to scale of the scene.
I’m trying to remember my Fire Academy classes from the mid ‘90’s. IIRC sea water was strongly discouraged for any use except helicopter bucket drops. Unlike shipboard/pier systems, regular wildland and municipal fire pumps weren’t made (metallurgically) for the corrosive sea water. Some jurisdictions might have sea water rated units, but they cost a lot more.

Yup. I can imagine what salt water would do to a fire engine's inner pump works. Heck, when I dove in Salt water, we'd have to come out of it and rinse our gear like crazy as well as the wetsuits, etc.
I haven't dived in salt water in ages.
That beautiful pink aerial retardant will also cause damage to equipment if not washed off. This was in addition to the impact of being hit with the slurry being dropped from an aircraft traveling at 100 mph or better. Trust me that hurts when it happens.

If they don’t use salt water , is it because it spreads future rust and such through out the plane ?
We used salt water to fight fires on ship ….If the ship ran out of desalinated water to make steam for the catapults to launch aircraft , you stunk ! …. they even pumped salt water to the heads for “ salt water showers “ . They provided some sort of soap that didn’t lather or work

Until that drone put a stop to it, those Canadian sea planes were dropping 1500 gallons of sea water per drop on that fire, with a 10 minute turn-around.

I had a friend that was in EOD on my ship. During “no fresh water showers allowed “ time …. he had a deep sink in his shack with fresh water to rinse the salt from diving gear. He would run a couple of gallons in the sink and I took a bath

Salt water will kill vegetation. I don't know that is their excuse though. I was just trying to think of something that the California environmental department could come up with.For real ….i don’t know ?

You can't save people because you can kill the vegetation. But the fire is going to kill it? Yeah well, shut up and do as you are told. They run storm water back to the ocean and pipe in water from hundreds of miles away to use. Doesn't make sense but.... California.
And people wonder why the equipment costs so much. A pump and system designed to move a corrosive liquid vs. one for “fresh” water.For real ….i don’t know ?

They started getting water out of the ocean as soon as they could get the aircraft back up. When you have 100 mph winds, you can’t fly and water drops would be useless. Strong winds are going to pick up again tonight and last until Wednesday so this is far from containment.

He is more than welcome to atone for his wicked deeds by serving an appropriate sentence behind bars, alongside other men who have done wrong. Dismissal of wrongdoing is not how any justice works. You harm someone, you don't get to say "I am sorry" and walk away. There is a reason why we voted the way we voted this year. Our elected representatives must now make those who have done harm previously pay for those deeds with the full weight of the law and the penal system.
