The aligning of factions in both civilian police and the military with partisan politics is a danger that every republic faces. Even in this day and age, in a country like the USA with the most access to information and the most peaceful transfers of power compared to the rest of the world, the threat of a real coup or civil war is merely one wrong turn from the main road into a dark side street.
The Marshals need to be mobilized immediately and any officer and commander that has been found to have defied the order need to be arrested and charged with treason. This is how actual coups start and suppression with force if necessary is needed while it is still local.

It looks like the prison guards and capitol police will be making up new charges on the J6 defendants that have nothing to do with what happened on 1/6/2021.
They will accuse them of assaulting a prison guard or something else while incarcerated; starting the legal nightmare all over again.
