National sucks...I've piloted aircraft in there and hate it. Only reason its still open is fuck wad politicians wanting to get to their flight in 10 minutes....and fuck all those asshole. Airport is basically in the middle of a major urban area.
one would think in 2025 with all the advanced electronics etc that this would be impossible
Want to see passenger manifest. These things just don't happen, especially in airspace as controlled as DC. And it's one of the clearest nights. In fact I had the wife and kid out looking at stars an hour ago.

Stern called Air Florida live on his show to ask what the fare was for a one-way ticket from the National Airport to the 14th Street Bridge.
Greaseman had to get on a plane and quickly leave DC for making a comment about the Martin Luther King holiday. They literally thought he was going to be murdered for his comment. "Why don't we shoot four more and get the whole week off"

I can almost guarantee, they were definitely flying with NVG’s. Now did they have them down at the time, there are reports there was zero illumination, so I’d be real surprised if they weren’t down. Typically if you’re going to go night unaided, you’re doing that just as it’s switching over to darkness, not 4 hours after sunset.
If they really believe this is the cause of the crash, then following their logic, they should all immediately go and cut their penises off to stop rape from happening.

One thing is apparent, the aircraft that PAT25 was told to see and avoid, he did not see nor avoid.
Isn't it the case most airports have ditched radar and now rely solely in ADS/ATC/TCAS.
Reports suggest the BlackHawk either doesn't have ADS-B/C or had it switched off.
Seems like a stupid thing to do near an airport and basically nothing ATC can do if they can't see the BlackHawk in real time.
