Movie Theater Lone Survivor The Movie

Rise, oh movie thread, long thought dead...

I was watching a clip from towards the end of LS, where a chopper is flying across some runways toward some military facilities (presumably approaching some base hospital and carrying ML) (top) and thought "I know that place!"
So I found it on Google Earth (bottom). C130 is turned around, though.

If it was just a made up story it would have been a decent action movie. Lots of shooting type movie. But the fact the events all (more or less) happened is what made the movie great for me. Knowing those guys really did fall down a mountain is incredible.

On another site when I did a review I gave two. It's a 7/10 if it was just an action movie. But its a 10/10 if you read the book and understand these events really did happen.

It's finally been disclosed, even by Lutrell himself, that most of the beginning of the story is false, that Murphy didn't make the call and Lutrell dropped his fully loaded gun and just put his head up over his hands over his ears so he couldn't hear Murphy begging Lutrell to come help him. The Navy gave him the option of looking like a p*ssy or lying and making millions off it and Marcus chose the latter.

The movie is an exaggeration of the book which is an exaggeration of the medal Citation which is an exaggeration of the debrief which was, seemingly, an exaggeration of the real live event, which again seemingly, is a pretty depressing rabbit hole to go down.

What really muddied the water was the book being written as fan-fic wank fodder from a retarded author. Not sure I'd personally slander Lutrell but if it happened like it seems it did than that's a hell of a thing to live with.

Most SEAL bullshit is lies and drinking stories. This bit of bullshit is no different.

Watch these "heroes" leave USAF Tsgt Chapman to die in Afghanistan as they all run away. It's on video. For years the Navy tried to cover up their cowardice in battle.

They then demanded one of their cowards get an MOH or they would fight recognition of Chapman to the bitter end. Now their coward is on the board of a museum dedicated to MOH winners and is shitting on Chapman there as well.

Other than fitness videos and selling those stupid sunglasses and flashlights on late night TV, they are just a bunch of lying fags.

The taliban video from the alleged event doesn't line up with the book or movie.

makes the ‘official’ story look like fiction.

He said it himself on his CNN interview with Anderson Cooper.
Do any of you have links where we can see/hear this stuff?

Wow, this is quite the narrative-flip. There was a time here on the Hide, where this was a big thing, and an organized book-signing, and quite a bit of fanfare.

And now the story is being reversed, re-told, and rejected?

I'm almost seeing a pattern here..... next will be statue removals.

It’s not some esoteric event, there has always been big discrepancies between the Marine intelligence, the SEAL’s story and the Rangers that combed the entire area afterwards.

The Marine and Ranger accounts painted the same image while the SEAL one varied immensely.

Be careful when you worship people, martyrs almost never deserve it.

Don’t think I’ve seen that, regardless the entire thing was a shitshow.

Tali video i mentioned. Maybe a couple dozen fighters? Not 100 plus.
Think it was more like 8-10 and they weren’t really Taliban, buts it’s the easiest thing to call them.

Yeah I know, but there were also SEAL groups that preformed professionally in operation Anaconda as well the ones that refused to climb a mountain like they were ordered to do or ran away and left Chapman to die.

Mixed bag for sure.
