AB Quantum Update 3.2! WEZ + Kestrels + CDF!

1) Is your app up to date? Are you on version 3.2.3+ for Android or newer? It appears you are still on an outdated version.
2) Do you have the PIN function turned off on the Kestrel? (This is necessary)
3) Do you have a good battery in place? New?
1) The app was at the latest version available in Google Play on Sunday when I posted.
Version 3.2.2 just came out on Monday and today I updated to 3.2.4
2) Pin = off
30 Battery = new one

Now with new version 3.2.4:
-Scope and reticle data is back(y)
-Stream Wind feature and environmental data update when you press "device" works fine. (y)
-The target DATA, however, is not updated and is not taken from the Kestrel at all ❌
-The support button works (sometimes the application gives an error, but if I try a few times, that's when it works)(y)
-Syncing Kestrel profiles also works, but in the Quantum app they all end up at the same speeds(y). Speed data is not taken as it is set in Kestrel for each individual profile. And MV Table is not synchronized, just one identical value for all 7 profiles ❌. Even after the sync is complete, the yellow icon / showing that there are differences between the Kestrel and Quantum profiles / is still present. Probably due to the speed values not syncing correctly
- The export function works(y)
This is what I noticed now on Android 14 with Quantum version 3.2.4

Target data is not supposed to transfer form the Kestrel. Incl and Direction shouldn't be pulled.

If it is mixing the MV Temp Tables and MVs then send a support ticket through the app with that information while the Kestrel is connected.

I noticed on the WEZ parameters that rifle precision is listed in MRAD. Which is no issue, other than in the user manual it's listed for example that high confidence would be .5 MOA, where in the app it's listed as .5 MRAD. I don't mind entering the precision in either format, I just have to wonder if the calculation is still using the input as MOA or if that box is mistakenly mislabeled MRAD. Because the numbers for the preset confidence levels seem to match MOA, where .5 MRAD is pretty crappy precision to be considered high confidence.
It depends on your scope. But also make sure you are on the latest version.

3.2.4 for Android
3.2.3 for iOS

We have updated this to further enhance/correct/stabilize parts of WEZ.

I noticed in mine if I choose a rifle that has a MOA scope the high confidence precision is 1.75 MOA if I choose a rifle that has a MRAD scope the high confidence precision is .5 MRAD.

Once I connect my Kestrel Elite with AB I am able to use the Elite features. When I click on Upgrade Subscription (which still says Ultralight subscription level) I only see the options for the professional Subscription.

However, when I don't have my Kestrel actively connected, I'm unable to use any of the Elite features and I'm prompted to upgrade my subscription, which still says Ultralight but now also shows the Elite level subscription options.

This is what I see when I first open the app if I don't have my weather meter connected:

I’m having the same problem.
AB Quantum iOS v3.2.3
Kestrel 5700 Elite (“5700AL”)

The Kestrel started life as a “5700 Sportsman” version and I paid to upgrade it to 5700 Elite, mentioning that in the off chance it could be related.

Point of clarification...
Pairing to a wez model kestrel will upgrade to pro license and unlocks WEZ, CDF cal, and graphing?... or just the wez function?

With the upgrade being an option is there anything additional gained by by paying whatever the pro subscription is vs just upgrading or buying a wez model kestrel?

I can confirm you get all the pro features AFTER you upgrade your kestrel to wez software. I did it yesterday and I can access WEZ, CDF and graphing inside the AB software. In the HUD, top right corner you will now see "Internal (PRO)". Under settings, subscription level, you will still see "Ultralight" despite having the pro features enabled. I'd imagine the AB folks are distinguishing between those who have the pro features via kestrel and those via AB software.

Correct, and we are updating the app to reduce confusion.

We are also going to move the CDF stuff down to Elite since it is going to be implemented into multiple devices (and already is in some upcoming ones).

Good morning Doc and the rest of the sub. Question and its not a crisis...I updated my app to the paid annual WEZ subscription when I had a 4dof. Sold it right after.
Now I have a 5700x. I did the wez kestrel update via the link app when I got it. Do I need to cancel the paid WEZ subscription? I just don't want screw up the account monitoring and lock out features. THX

No, you don't need to cancel anything. Just let them ride out, it will not negatively effect the app.

Thanks

I'll likely look at doing this then

I did the subscription to test it out on the phone, but wez is RIDICULOUSLY exaggerated right now anyway so not much point until they get it sorted

I know they have alot to get straight with the new roll out though so I'm sure they will get it figured out

Build 455 has WEZ fixed. We did notice some bugs in 3.2.9 450 and have already corrected them. We are going to limit updates/releases to one day a week so that we don't see repeat reports of bugs already corrected.

You guys fixed the temp entry issue I was seeing, the rest was apparently just my misunderstanding of the software

I think there are some things I wasn't understanding / still don't understand about how wez is calculating. This led me to make the "RIDICULOUSLY exaggerated" comment above.
Someone replied to me today (might have been doc actually as he has answered a couple of the times I've sent tickets in) not sure who as the signature was missing compared to the replies I've gotten before from doc.

So to be transparent and hopefully help anyone else out who was viewing this the same way that I was....

If you were to zero out all wez inputs except yardage. And set a 50yd uncertainty on a 100yd target...

1000006153.jpg

I was under the impression this meant you were somewhere between 50-150 yards.

When I got a reply today they had done a mimicry of my analysis on the full software and attached a screen shot
1000006155.png

It's at this point I'm seeing that all the inputs listed top left appear to possibly be a standard deviation... so a 50 yd uncertainty doesn't mean 50-150 it means more like 0-350. This tends to explain why I was expecting something like 1" of vertical and not 16" like the examples show.

Now I did end up with additional questions that I sent back after realizing these inputs are SD...
Mainly I'm possibly also confused how the software and app populate the results that end up looking so evenly distributed both upward and down... because in this scenario I'm thinking all my error would be from the center of the plate downward as I'm assuming 100 yards and the target could apparently be something from 0-350 so all my error would show up below the point of aim.

I might be the only one that was viewing the input this way, but if not maybe that will help someone else.
If anyone is able to dumb down the answer for how the vertical populated upward and downward in this scenario I'll come back and share that as well.

I feel confident AB will get it all sorted and I do feel like it's a very handy little tool once we all get past the learning curve or make it a little more intuitive.

WEZ has nearly an entire book dedicated to it. Accuracy and Precision for Long Range Shooting. Range Uncertainty has an entire chapter dedicated to it. It is a bit more complex than a single post online will do. The only thing not covered is that we added a new input which is BC SD essentially (Drag Factor %) and CDF (Which is in some upcoming devices, and will be activated in older devices by the companies at their discretion).

Amazon Kindle has a digital version if you prefer. I like the digital versions because I pull them up on my phone and reference them in conversations helping people.
Well that day is coming but I am still a musty smell of a book kinda guy. I have the Modern advancement trilogy set and the Applied ballistics for long range shooting volume so far.
