Someone shared this somewhere on SH, and I thought it prudent to share the original cost of an AWSM 338LM in 2004. Adjusted for inflation, this would be $15,023.43 today. The rifle alone with no accessories would be $9,171.07.

My biggest firearms regret is selling my 2 AIAW 2.0. I had a few ATs after them but it just wasn’t the same… However the quick change barrel was pretty nice.

Some genuine AW chassis I have/had:

Ex-police AW folding with fixed cheekpiece. Put my 1987 single shot target rifle in it - 226th production AI. Sold the chassis to fund other projects and it was also not very interesting.

Correct L118A1 spec AW chassis which I'm looking to turn into a L118A1 clone. Just need a pre-00s donor AW. It'll then become one of probably only 2 accurate clones of the L118A1. A lot of clones don't have the right factory bits like quick-adjust cheekpiece or the side-rail.

It was never an official option as far as I'm aware - I may be wrong. Most in private hands are genuine ex-military issue ones for the L96, L118, and L115 rifles. The L96 and L118 ones are the same. There are some very good clones around though.

This 45° mount was an original one and used for the thermal device STIC ( Sniper Thermal Imaging Capability) on L115A3 sws.

I think it was discontinued because modern AXs have an integrated rail on the front chassis..
