Pickup Truck Trend - Chain hanging from the front bumper

I have recently seen 2 different trucks with chains mounted from, what appears to be, somewhere behind the front bumper, forming a lazy U, made out of thick thick chains, and hanging about 2-3" from the ground. The low ground clearance would seem to negate any offroad capabilities. Similar to the attached pic, however the chain links are as thick as the shackles in the pic and hang way low. Has anyone else seen this or have any info on what they may be for?
I sadistically thought they may keep people protesting in the road from piling up under the truck on the commute home.

That truck is driven by a very short dude in skinny jeans, a grunt style t shirt, and hey dudes and he has tiny nuts
That was my first thought too...needs to stand on the chain to check the oil and add wiper fluid. LOL
Weird shit for sure. I would never and just for the record, most of us rely on straps with our winch, not ropes or chains in our recovery kit.

Supposed to store them in the recovery bag.... otherwise dumb flex to impress people who don't know how dumb hanging em like that is lol.

They are about 4" links, 1" thick attached behind the bumper, not 9n shackles. They only take about 8-10 links total. I guess what I'm getting at is they have about 75lbs of forged steel hanging off of there. It appears to be for peacocking.
But maybe they are nice guys, contractors of course, who weigh down the front as to not blind oncoming traffic when pulling a trailer.

That there is a nice truck
Thank you. Bought it online cuz I wanted a diesel and all the luxury options of the Limited for those long drives required for destination bow hunting. When I found it the Ram was a puddle-sniffing mall cruiser.

Had it taken directly to the shop, ripped off the air bag suspension, badges and chrome, added a 6” BDS lift kits, custom wheels, 35” Toyo AT Xtreme tires, color matched Bushwhacker fender flares, color matched steel bumper, 12K winch, shackles front and rear, color matched grille, Powersteps (not shown), stubby antenna, Bedrug, BakFlip MX4 tonneau cover, Dee Zee tailgate assist, McGard tailgate lock, color matched side mirrors, handles, custom lights all around from Retroshop, window tinting, 360* camera surveillance system, full recovery kit, and it’s always gotten me where I need to go and back home again. Love the mileage!

They used to pull these tow hooks off boom truck builds at my old work and just scrap them. I asked if I could pick them out of the scrap bins and boss was like sure. I sold a dozen or more of them to local tech school diesel douches for a nice little bonus. The factory tow hooks on some of these newer trucks are a fucking joke.

I didn't read all the drivel in this thread, but when I see that, the wide offsets, wheel lights and a shackle hanging from a pissy 2" receiver hitch, first thing I think is, they fucked up a perfectly good truck and they couldn't untrack the chain that actually goes with that shackle.

We used an anchor chain between two D9 dozers for leveling trees and smoothing ground, we loaded and unloaded them with a 977 track loader, because a pickup isn't hauling them or dragging them.

People are retarded

Is that Fords new safety thing to protect getting fucked over in the ass by Fords lowly rated engineers for really bad designs? Thought so! :ROFLMAO:
