REMMINGTON 243 03A3

I inherited several rifles (I'm not a gun guy to speak of at all ) any information I can get would be appreciated, when my old neighbor passed ( my friend) I was given his rifles, he was from the Virginia's, hunted and fished his whole life. I took this particular rifle in to be educated. Told the fellow behind the counter what I had been told about the rifle. He said that I had been told wrong that the rifle was not a military issue 243 03A3, after quickly checking it out said he needed to apologize. That he was wrong . That he had never seen anything like it, the size and weight is mind boggling, I'm attaching a few photos , help me if you can, and thanks

I agree, it's a sporterized 03 Springfield, which happened a lot post-WWII as people could get them cheap and turn them into hunting rifles. The mil-surp collector crowd was nowhere near what it is now, someone would shit a cow if someone did that to a Springfield in this day and age lol.

I'd say from looking at the configuration of that rifle, the stock, the heavier barrel, AO adjustable optic, and .243 caliber, he probably used it to shwack varmints, groundhogs, and such. It's a beautiful rifle for sure.
