Was this there after opening the box or after shooting? Just curious if it’s the heavy recoil shaking stuff loose? Not that that should matter but curious what Schmidt is saying for the reason.

After shooting ...
S&B have given me a "Reason"......BUT! ...I find it unacceptable when a $1000 "Chinese" optic with over 1000 rounds on a 50 has zeeo, zilch debri!!
I know you’ve been through just about every alpha brand. Curious, have you tried a Vortex RG3 6-36 yet? Or one of the other LOW variants like Zeiss LRP S3 or Element Theos 6-36’s? I’m finishing my review of these three and they have been impressive.

I also wonder if the different recoil dynamic of the DT bullpup has something to do with it? But to your point the China scope has not had the issues, maybe they don’t use grease or something different?

My impressions are only after one range session but the eye box was OK, sharpness, outstanding, Ease of use of the combination illumination/parallax dials, excellent and the turrets, outstanding.
illumination, bright but I did not use in at 100yds.
I did have to call S&B to figure out how to unlock the turrets, it runs out it is a simple slide on the circumference of the elevation and windage dials.
The reticle was ok but for my usage a simple thin cross hairs with target dot would suffice.
The second focal plane scope was $3KUSD and the first focal plane scope was $3800 because of the difference in illumination I suppose.
This is my third S&B.

I had a 6-36 mounted on my 338 NMI, just after I hit 300 rounds the parallax started acting up and a few shots later something inside let go. Looking through the lens looked like cardboard on the upper magnification. On the lower end you could actually see through it.

It's been at S&B since then end of November. I asked for an update Friday and was told that an objective system was ordered from Germany and that they had received the focus lens and the objective system has an eta of February 24th.

I'm not sure why they just don't send me a replacement, the long wait coupled with the exuberant price hike has pushed me away from S&B. I currently have 9 and all the others have been problem free, I did order a 8-40 ZCO last week.

That is a known issue with the 6-36...10-60 ,that I uncovered early on in the initial release..

Looks like I’ll be returning it. I know it sounds minor but it really bugs me especially when it wasn’t represented in the photos. Apparently Schmidt is shipping these with a different battery cap. So the RAL8000 scope comes with logoless, cheap looking battery cap that is black. Complete eyesore. It should be perfect for 3500 dollars.

Wow. That’s bad. I swear I’ve seen pic of other guys’ RAL8000 6-36’s that were one color all over. I’ll try to dig one up.

Got a pic? Not for proof, but I’m just curious.

We are considering stocking S&B in the future, what models and configurations do you guys want?
5-25, 6-36, 5-45, Polar. They don’t make the old long 3-20 anymore, do they?

Edit: with the DTII+ turrets, although I’m curious about the MTII+(?) 0.5mil version and I don’t think I’d mind the D27-type as I’m not a dialer, really. Curious about the Gr2id, not about the Tr2id, which prob makes me weird. Some Ral8000.

Where are you ? Country
The battery cap is to do with regulations in regards to batteries... some countries require the "Round ..Domed" cap with the slot for removal. Others the traditional flat cap with knurling..

It’s something to do with some new law about the battery cap can not be easily removed and Schmidt didn’t care to send them with correct color caps.

I bitched to them and got an old style RAL8000 but it has a cut for a coin slot lit the black one

Ah yes, Reese's law. My top tier Sig Romeo5 was recalled for the battery cover and non-childproof coin battery package. I put the whole Romeo5 and Aimpoint micro in my mouth and sent pictures to the mfr's to see if they'll recall stupidity.

5-25 with DTII+ turrets and MSR2
You know, I have an idle wish: that S&B made a variation of the MSR2, only with the main stadia of their H2CMR.

I think FinnAccuracy made the MSR2, so that’s not happening, but these days I find it a little weird for a dialing reticle not to have .2 divisions for wind. Maybe there’s some rationale…

Full disclosure (lol): I own a 5-25 with the H2CMR

I would change a few things up on it myself. But I have no trouble splitting the half mil hashes in half (into quarters) outside of the 1 mil area. I think the rationale was to not deviate too far from the original MSR, meaning to keep it fairly simple. Wouldn’t be surprised to see an MSR3 down the road.

The MSR2 has the 0.2 on the main stadia for the first mil in each direction for wind. Are you thinking of the original MSR?

Nah, I’m a small caliber lover that shoots in the ND wind. I don’t use the mils to range or measure.

For example:

Nice if they just added .2 hashes out to 2mils. Keep the 1/2 mil divider, I don’t care. Sorta like the S&B Gr2id, below

I don’t need 4 mils of wind holds, though lol. That’s a little excessive.

Edit: Huh. Same issue with 6.5cm. In the same 6br scenario above (with the ammo I tried) all holds are also past 1mil for wind.

What program puts that cute little prairie dog on the reticle?

StrelokPro. I think the regular Strelok does it too.

But it’s under sanctions because the dev is Russian or something.

Chairgun Ballistics is awfully close to it. Supposedly ripped off from Strelok but who knows? To change reticles on Chairgun and targets you have to upgrade.

Talk about a weird name, “Chairgun.”

Here’s some info: https://community.hardairmagazine.com/threads/oh-no-the-tree-huggers-got-to-chairgun-strelok.1953/

Thanks, one of the few I don't have but after briefly looking at your link it's probably a good thing, what a mess.
