Rifle Scopes New Schmidt & Bender PM2 6-36x56

Whaaat? When did that happen? I just spoke with him a couple of weeks ago. Not good, if true!
There were rumors, I'm not sure if it was every verified and given that you recently spoke with him hopefully it means he is still there. Jerry is basically the glue that holds Schmidt & Blunder USA together, given their recent price hikes - if Jerry were to leave I am not sure Schmidt USA could recover. That said, I am looking forward to the new Meta FFP 3-18x42 scope, but right now they have it priced waaay outside the market, I just don't see many shooters paying $5k for a crossover scope (especially with neutered FOV) no matter how good it is, but in the $3000-$3500 range - now we're talking.

Apparently Jerry is gone now and service means going back to Deutschland... Sucks.

Wow, rumors appear to be true. Schmidt was pretty quick with USA turn around as well, warranty means a lot to a lot of guys these days, I can't help but think this is going to hurt sales even more in the US...

From what I understand Jerry has left S&B. He’s how I got mine
Well, I called the service center yesterday. A lady answered the phone and I asked her about the part I needed. She said she would check and call me back but I haven’t heard anything back yet. If I could get the correct part I would keep the scope but Eurooptic hasn’t gotten back to me either so I’m just here waiting.

There still is a service center here correct? He couldn’t be the only one working there

I have no idea how many employees are at the S&B USA facility, nor how many are in the service department, but I can say the 2 times I had to use S&B service I dealt with Jerry both times so he may very well be "the guy" when it came to the US service center.

He may have been the only one there doing the services, or the only one there with the knowledge/skills/training for in depth work and repairs; I have no idea. But based on what the other member said in the thread I linked who called S&B this week it looks like in the short term everything is going to have to go back to Germany for repairs. Who knows if they'll replace Jerry at some point to shorten the repair times for US customers... I hope they will, I don't want to deal with Minox levels of turnaround time, lol. But we also don't know if Jerry left on his terms or if he was "downsized" by S&B.

One of my three full length 3-20s has a rather stiff mag ring and I've been putting off sending it in for a few years now... guess this is what I get for waiting. Maybe I'll call and ask about sending it in and see what they say...

I did not know he was the repair man. I thought he was just the service contact guy.

As I said, I'm not 100% sure either. All I know is both times I had to deal with S&B service I dealt with Jerry; my impression was he was the one doing the work based on his level of knowledge when I asked what was wrong and what was needed to fix it when he described what he had to do on the turrets. His level of knowledge gave me the impression he was not just the guy answering the phones and printing the shipping labels for the service department.

If he was just the service contact guy, then he was the most damn knowledgeable service contact guy I’ve ever came across.
I didn’t mean anything mean by it. Hell when I was a body man we had paint reps that were painters and would come in and paint when there was an issue but the rest of the time they were basically like a tech support and came by to bullshit with the workers

Oh yeah, wasn’t putting you down. Just saying the guy seeing to know his way around the interior of a scope.

Well the USA customer base has gotten rather spoiled and demanding.

Long gone are the days of being willing to sit around and wait endlessly while some German company (you know who you are) decided if they would deign to fix some item that some unwashed savage from America had handled.

If S&B starts having long service times, word is going to get out quick and well, ZCO and TT will be very happy...

5-25, 6-36, 5-45, Polar. They don’t make the old long 3-20 anymore, do they?

Edit: with the DTII+ turrets, although I’m curious about the MTII+(?) 0.5mil version and I don’t think I’d mind the D27-type as I’m not a dialer, really. Curious about the Gr2id, not about the Tr2id, which prob makes me weird. Some Ral8000.
They do but only for Europe, you can special order one from them but it’s like $8,000 and you only get the old MTC locking, or a low profile turret that only the German army uses.
I’m fortunate enough to have one and love it. You can find them used here and there for $2,700, but they only have old reticles.

I have an older 3-20 with the P4FL that I got for a really good deal.

Kind of funny because now the folks raging about LPVOs being the latest and greatest got bored and are now raving about MPVOs being the next hottest thing. That 3-20 is a nice scope with a great magnification range that would fit things really well if you weren't concerned about length or weight.
