Whaaat? When did that happen? I just spoke with him a couple of weeks ago. Not good, if true! From what I understand Jerry has left S&B. He’s how I got mine
There were rumors, I'm not sure if it was every verified and given that you recently spoke with him hopefully it means he is still there. Jerry is basically the glue that holds Schmidt & Blunder USA together, given their recent price hikes - if Jerry were to leave I am not sure Schmidt USA could recover. That said, I am looking forward to the new Meta FFP 3-18x42 scope, but right now they have it priced waaay outside the market, I just don't see many shooters paying $5k for a crossover scope (especially with neutered FOV) no matter how good it is, but in the $3000-$3500 range - now we're talking.Whaaat? When did that happen? I just spoke with him a couple of weeks ago. Not good, if true!
Wow, rumors appear to be true. Schmidt was pretty quick with USA turn around as well, warranty means a lot to a lot of guys these days, I can't help but think this is going to hurt sales even more in the US...Apparently Jerry is gone now and service means going back to Deutschland... Sucks.

Schmidt And Bender repair
Had quite a big boo-boo with my scope today at the range and snapped off the back completely and was curious if anyone knows the best place I can get repair information from S&B or whether it can be repaired?www.snipershide.com
Well, I called the service center yesterday. A lady answered the phone and I asked her about the part I needed. She said she would check and call me back but I haven’t heard anything back yet. If I could get the correct part I would keep the scope but Eurooptic hasn’t gotten back to me either so I’m just here waiting. From what I understand Jerry has left S&B. He’s how I got mine
There still is a service center here correct? He couldn’t be the only one working thereApparently Jerry is gone now and service means going back to Deutschland... Sucks.

I did not know he was the repair man. I thought he was just the service contact guy.I have no idea how many employees are at the S&B USA facility, nor how many are in the service department, but I can say the 2 times I had to use S&B service I dealt with Jerry both times so he may very well be "the guy" when it came to the US service center.
He may have been the only one there doing the services, or the only one there with the knowledge/skills/training for in depth work and repairs; I have no idea. But based on what the other member said in the thread I linked who called S&B this week it looks like in the short term everything is going to have to go back to Germany for repairs. Who knows if they'll replace Jerry at some point to shorten the repair times for US customers... I hope they will, I don't want to deal with Minox levels of turnaround time, lol. But we also don't know if Jerry left on his terms or if he was "downsized" by S&B.
One of my three full length 3-20s has a rather stiff mag ring and I've been putting off sending it in for a few years now... guess this is what I get for waiting. Maybe I'll call and ask about sending it in and see what they say...

If he was just the service contact guy, then he was the most damn knowledgeable service contact guy I’ve ever came across.I did not know he was the repair man. I thought he was just the service contact guy.
If it was in my state I would be on itIf someone here wants to be Jerry's replacement or know someone that would like to apply, I'd contact them.
Scope repairman doesn’t seem like it would have the compensation requisite for living in VA.If someone here wants to be Jerry's replacement or know someone that would like to apply, I'd contact them.
I didn’t mean anything mean by it. Hell when I was a body man we had paint reps that were painters and would come in and paint when there was an issue but the rest of the time they were basically like a tech support and came by to bullshit with the workersIf he was just the service contact guy, then he was the most damn knowledgeable service contact guy I’ve ever came across.

Oh yeah, wasn’t putting you down. Just saying the guy seeing to know his way around the interior of a scope.I didn’t mean anything mean by it. That’s why I was asking if he was an actual repair man or a Rep that could possibly not be on site and work in a different state.I don't know what they pay, and some retiree might want a job like that. I'm just providing info![]()

Anything with MSR-2We are considering stocking S&B in the future, what models and configurations do you guys want?
They do but only for Europe, you can special order one from them but it’s like $8,000 and you only get the old MTC locking, or a low profile turret that only the German army uses.5-25, 6-36, 5-45, Polar. They don’t make the old long 3-20 anymore, do they?
Edit: with the DTII+ turrets, although I’m curious about the MTII+(?) 0.5mil version and I don’t think I’d mind the D27-type as I’m not a dialer, really. Curious about the Gr2id, not about the Tr2id, which prob makes me weird. Some Ral8000.

I’m fortunate enough to have one and love it. You can find them used here and there for $2,700, but they only have old reticles.
Was there any word given on whether they plan to re-establish service available over here?Spoke to the service center this week and she did confirm that Jerry has left, and that the scopes are now being sent to Germany. My 6-36 has been there for several weeks now.
No word at all. I would think they would almost have to though. If people can't get these things serviced/repaired in a timely manner, zco/tangent/kahles are gonna be getting alot more sales. Was there any word given on whether they plan to re-establish service available over here?
I did buy the SB 6-36 instead, but like you I feel it may be time to move on. SB has always been my favorite.I bought a TT 5-25 instead of a S&B 6-36 after being a Schmidt person forever. Part of the calculus was this service situation. Already have a 3-20US that needs the lubricant cleaning from the interior lenses. Part of it also was beating any sanction price increases on the TT’s (though I admit I have zero info on that, and it might not even be an issue).
Kinda sad because I love S&B, but the signs just pointed towards moving on.
I bought the 6-36, didn't even get to take it to the range before I decided something was up. Parallax couldn't give a razor sharp image at long range, had a significant amount of reticle jump/erector slop, and the image a high magnification was very dark. Something is definitely up with it because a couple of my cheap scopes had a nicer image. I was very disappointed with my 6-36 but we will see how it is when they send it back. Was yours pre new style battery cap? So far I really like mine.I've owned several Schmidts over the years. They have always served me well. One I sent to Jerry to have rebuilt after 10,000 rounds. Got the 6x36 and was not impressed. Jerry told me it's a known issue with the parallax. He left 2 weeks after I sent it in. Lisa was kind enough to send me a loaner while mine is making the trip to Germany. WOW! the loaner I got exceeds my expectations! She said they are actively working on a replacement for Jerry.
For anyone looking. The MKM Valdada Patriot throw lever works with the 6-36 mag ring. I did add a layer of electrical tape trimmed to the inside of the mkm throw lever with it being very rough. S&B should have this included with optic, but here is an option for those lookingView attachment 8637772
Yes ..correct 6-36 has same ocular size as 3-27 and 5-45.
