All subs have been nuke for decades. The Barbel was around this century, but was a deep sea research vessel only. The Blueback was really the last operational diesel and was decommed in 1990. But even it spent its last decades as a restricted duty vessel, used often for training.
I was on a boomer in the 70s and we fired the diesel...once. Would not have to refuel until convenient to do so.
