Night Vision Clip-on decision: Voodoo S or M, or something else?

I’m about to drop some coin on a voodoo s, but I always get nervous around shot show time. Does anyone know if POT is releasing a new unit, or core anytime soon? Thanks for any advice, will prob order tomorrow if you guys think I’m GTG.
They had a Voodoo MX and Voodoo R at show show 2024. Both have LRF functions. No word on release date

Stands for recon. I’m sure someone on here knows more.

How do you like the S? I’ll be getting one to demo next Saturday. It’ll be the first clip on I’ve been behind.

No worries!

So far I love it! Most versatile thermal out there IMO.

Sorry to necro post, but I’d like to point out that @wigwamitus must consume so much Spice Melange to have such prescience:

Thoughts on the ReapIR?
Both the Trijicon (formerly IR&D) thermals with the BAE cores ... and the N-Vision thermals with the BAE cores ... are GREAT. The best commercial stuff we can buy and have been for eons.
My main problem with the REAPs (and Patrols) has been zeroing with the joystick. The issue historically for me was I would "bump" the joystick and sometimes get 3 clicks and other times get 1 click and there was no way to tell which. Subsequent models addressed this by adding click numbers to the display. That's way better because now at least you know where you are. But It still takes me longer to zero with the joystick than with turrets or buttons.
Other than that the REAPs are fine as is the rough equivalent, the N-Vision Nox-35. The N-vision model does have more magnification (less FOV) - so that matters depending on your uses cases. N35 also has manual focus, if that matters.

How much did those end up going for? I want to see how the older HISS LRT stacks up to the the UTC xii, ELR MK2, ect. Only cooled unit I have time behind is the INOD. Goal is a 1500yd shot on a deer this summer.
I know where one is for sale for 80

That shot should be doable. I hear it’s the same guys as recon but with a better display.

i kinda want a HISS XLR to see what cooled is all about

You can see targets that are roughly the same temperature as the background (LWIR struggles with that)

You can often see residual heat from impacts on steel…

…or paper

You can see bullets in flight and trace

The XLR in particular has a very narrow FOV for shooting very far (that building is just over a mile away).

ive seen the trace vids before. its awesome.

It appears to be, god I need about 300k so I can just take the top units out for a test run and comparison!
If I were a billionaire, I wouldn’t have the time to meddle with politics, since I would spend all my time at the range and hunting, with the latest and greatest in cool-guy-gear.

But I guess that reason is why I’ll never be a billionaire - blowing off all my money on gear keeps me poor …
