MK 12 Picture & Discussion Thread

If I could have, I would have bought and or built a Mk12 or two, years ago. Its my favourite AR platform by far.

Working on a Mk12 mod 1 as it is. And my Mk12 mod H(ish) is working hard:

here is my build. I call it the MK12 Mod 6 due to the caliber. it originally started in the sights of being more clone correct to the Mod1, but some freebie stuff came in and now it is what it is. it is an absolute beast of a rifle. Groups are stupid at pretty much any range i have access too. hoping to get into some 600 yard stuff soon with it. long range is limited around me and my farm is a few hours drive so that isn't always on the table. the target photo is at 200, bipod and rear bag. I have heard about the BA barrels being trash but i lucked out with this one.

UPPER

Aero upper with tear drop FA
BCM QRF12 FDE
18 inch Ballistic Advantage stainless SPR profile in 6MM ARC
bcm gas block and tube
WDR bolt carrier in FDE with a 6.5 grendal bolt
Geissele Airborne CH in FDE
Arken optics EPL 6-24x50 FFP
Arken Mount
Harris bipod
knock off KAC broom handle
Dead air Sandman K (soon to be AEM5-30K)

LOWER

Aero lower
Geissele Tricon trigger
milspec LPK
Rifle Buffer tube and spring
Kynshot Hydraulic buffer
A2 stock
BAD lever
B.A.D ambi short throw safety.
BCM Grip.

So nice to see these rifles not only live on, but get shot. I’m bringing both my RECCE and my Mod 0 to the next multi gun match. It’s time to shake them out.

If I could find an old Badger ring cap that will support a modern red dot ,I’d compete with the mod0 more often.

I really wish PMM or Reptillia would make caps mounts for the older Badger steel and Nightforce rings.

Yeah, I really want one of the ring caps that has the pic rail at 45 degrees as well as one of the diving boards (all for 30mm) but last time I emailed Badger about them they didn't have any on hand on no plans on making more...

Member here put me on these this morning. Not what you’re looking for but this will work for me. Ordered a set of a
1.5 lightweight rings and this ring cap this morning. Going to re-do the mod0 w/32mm NXS with these and try a couple comps.

I wonder if there's much demand for new ring caps for old Badger mounts. I don't really need another project but I'm tempted to get a buddy with a machine shop to make me some, haha.

I couldn’t say, but I personally prefer rings over mounts and I still have probably 7-8 sets of Badgers and just shitcanned a set of Nightforce steel that I bought used with some questionable lapping. I like the option to add a dot on rifles that might see competition/ field use but I’m likely an outlier.

Yeah, that's fair. I put dots on pretty much any rifle (short of something that already has an eotech as a main optic) and like the ability to run a weapon-mounted LRF on anything likely to be used at any kind of distance. I've got an older Badger 30mm mount on a large frame gasser and have the longer front pic rail for it (not the diving board but still seems to fit an Impact 4k) but would like one of the older ring caps they made with the pc rail at 45 degrees, it's just nicer to have the dot up higher for use with nods vs down on a 45 degree offset. Likely an outlier as well, haha.

Rattle can just today by my 9 year old daughter. Turned out pretty well. Was so impressed how she did that, since she never used a spray can before. Also using all the leaves etc. Let her do it all alone after a quick explanation. Better to let them go at it and have their own experience.

Yeah hopefully @DKN83 kids don't look like the rifle now haha
In fact i was the only one getting spray paint everywhere. Tried to tell her about the optimal distance to spray and moving the can and held the damn thing vice versa painting my whole hand and face khaki.

From that moment she told me i should just let her do it her way, got told i am of no use in this situation🤣

I ran the RECCE and the mod0 in a few stages at a 2 gun yesterday. RECCE ran fine, though I had an issue getting a round to strip from a mag post movement. Odd thing was, I used that mag in the first shooting box. Was low in ammo and instead of dropping it post HVT shot (which I fucking missed being over confident) I stuffed it in my dump bag. Same mag went right back in and locked. I worked the CH and click. Slapped, charged it again. Click. I locked the bolt back, rotated and watched the bolt strip it the 3rd time but damage was done. 10 seconds for a HVT and another 4-5 with a dead gun and it was game over…. It was light and easy to maneuver. On par with my heavy 14.5” with 7.62 RC2.

Behold my shame….

The Mod0. Well, let’s say I’d need to get some reps in. The extra weight made all of the basic manipulations harder. Had a couple fucked up mag changed and it’s hard to not overdrive it moving from target to target. Doable for sure, but it would take some practice to get me to the point I can use it like my 14.5s.
