MK 12 Picture & Discussion Thread

As crazy as it sounds, I have started using N140 in one of my rifles just because of availability and (the amazing part) price. Who would have thought VV would be the reasonably priced powder.

Picking up a gas tube, LPK, pistol grip and maybe a stickler today. I have an Aero lower and Geisslle NM trigger as a place holders, and my Upper recover should be here tomorrow. At that point, all the upper parts are going to my smith to build out my NSW RECCE.

If I’m going to just range queen it, it’ll wear my 2.5-10x24 NXS. If I’m going to compete with it, and NX8 1-8 at first, then maybe a mk5 HD 3-18 with a piggyback up top.

You have a favorite load for 69s or 77s? I’m about to start loading my daily ammo off a 550, so I’m moving to 8208 and TAC.

I have run 23.2gr 8208 behind 77SMK and up to 23.8gr. At one point, the 23.8gr gave me some pressure signs, but I loaded the bullets slightly longer and they went away. It's probably pretty close to on the edge, but delivers consistent sub 3/4 MOA groups and has performed out to 800+ yards from the Mk12 Mod 1.

I would start at 23.2gr and work up.

Anyone know I'd the a.r.m.s. 22 high rings will allow a 50mm objective to clear on a mk12 mod 0? I believe the height is 1.450". I have a 1.53 on my mid 1 and it's fine.

Working on a mod 0 and trying to plan the optics and mount. I can't bring myself to use an old outdated optic, so I am looking at the nx8 2.5-20 like on my mod 1 or a nx8 4-32.

Mail man just dropped the last of it. All I’m missing is another PRI Gas Buster, but I’m not 100% sure I’m going to use it as I plan on using this for Run and Gun, so a smaller latch helps keep the charging handle locked. (Think BCM gunfighter)

A couple weeks and there should be a new NSW-RECCE~ish rifle on the range.

I was at the range this past saturday. Shot some PMC X-Tac 77 grain at 100 and 300 meters. Naturally I was running my MK12 mod H-ish build with the WOA SPR barrel.
I only had time for one 10 round group at 300, but it measured 88mm C/C. So sub MOA, and I am sure I can do better. But I was running out of time and was a bit stressed... Anyways. Very happy with the build.

Took the mk12 out to 900 today for the first time. Didn't do a mk262 clone but running a 77smk at 2680fps to match the 168gr 308 turrets. Ran out of elevation at 800 but she holds fist sized groups out to 800. Holding over at 900 I had hits on a full ipsc and couldn't connect at 1k. Time to finally clean her and see if I can squeak any more accuracy with seating depth and crimping.

Here's a few action stills from a video.

For what is worth, we just released our full Mk12 Mod1 rifles . We have previously released the full deployment kits for the Mod1 and the Mod 0. Tonight, we reduced the price on the Mod 0 rifle and deployment kit, and introduced the Mod1 rifle and also released some KAC RAS rails for the Mod 1. We have options for the rilfe with a suppressor and Leupold optic as well.

Upgraded to an A1 stock, and finally picked up an OCM5. Only thing left I really went to do to this rifle is upgrade to a Leupold MK5 scope. With the can on I’m getting consistent .5”-1” groups which I’m ecstatic with. She took top gas gun at Peterson Cartridge Challenge 2 years ago. Nice rig! What optic are you currently running, is that a 3-18 Strike Eagle?

Thanks! For the match I won, I had my S&B PMII 5-25 on it. Currently it has the newest generation of the 3-18 strike eagle that I took off my Rimfire PRS rig.
What're your thoughts on the 3-18 Strike Eagle? I'm building a new .223 gas gun that is definitely not a Mk12 clone but same concept (precision AR but for field/practical use, not a bench/target/match setup). 20" Krieger Hbar and CMT arca rail. As I assemble the bits and pieces I've been debating what optic to use. Plan is to try 3 I have on hand (G3 1-10, PST G2 2-10 & LHT 4.5-22ffp) and see which one best fits the use case (which is engaging targets out to 700ish yards in field conditions where the targets can be harder to resolve, no good backstops, etc). They all have downsides: 1-10 gives up a bit on 10x, 2-10 has exposed non-locking turrets and meh reticle, the LHT is probably closest (the low end isn't critical since I'll be running an offset rds) but on paper I like the features of the 3-18 SE (mag range, length, weight is ok, zero stop for elevation, capped windage, reticle and illum) but I always kinda balk at any of the made in PRC stuff...

A very “ish” rifle, inspired by the MK12 and RECCE. Some form-over-function extras, because California.

I was originally very disappointed with this rifle because the Faxon match barrel didn’t like any ammo. I think I had mistakenly not torqued something down because after I added the OCL brake it started shooting great. I still want to swap the barrel with a PRI Douglas and I don’t like the MDT stock at all.

"The short answer is yes, the long answer is we have multiple dealings with 22ARC running AE suppressors - we are launching a direct mounted barrel so you don't need their muzzle device or taper mount collar - and we are also offering an 18 Mk12 barrel -

Those are launching on the RTR line soon - probably late February if it was my guess"

From Craddock for MK12s if anyone was interested like myself.
