Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

A good friend with my HTI 375Cheytac and S&B 5-45 at 2500yds today...

5 shot group was with a gentle L to R breeze.
Other plate was 20 shots fired..18 hits in a gusty breeze ..

Both HTI and S&B 5-45 performed great!! (y)

What does height of the mount have to do with how far you can shoot? Of course cant of mount and elevation travel of your scope but how does mount height affect maximum distance? Serious question looking to learn something.
Do some research, lots of good threads on it. One keeps your head straight, two allows you to dial more for distance, etc.

The inclination angle of the mount should not be more than half the adjustment range of the optic, or you will not likely be able to zero at 100 yards. This angle allows you to use more, or all of the adjustment range.

Sorry if inappropriate, but im going to hold up another member of The Hide: @softcock makes some GREAT stuff. Here are pics of it mounted to my Eberlestock Sniper Sled, 52". If you run a multi-caliber rig, you need this. Period. Build quality is top notch, it runs perfect behind the accesory bags, against the main bag. Two MOLLE snaps and you're in. You don't have to unthread them or anything, just unsnap and fold the back of the pouch up.

Anybody mess around with a 22 creedmoor conversion kit? Thinking about going to it to slam some groundhogs this year for a farmer. Anybody know of any readily available rifles, I sent SAC, Special Purpose Rifles, and TS Customs a message.
I’ve not; .223 from SAC is awesome, but I get wanting to push for speed.
I’m tempted to find a smith for a .17-556 conversion just to lob tiny things with zero recoil at absurd velocity.
SAC has told me historically they’re sticking just to the .223 for time being.
I’ve just been hand loading 6.5creedmoor with about 43.5-44.1gr Staball and a 143gr ELDX and seeing 2950FPS with few pressure signs and very low SD.
Tempted to play with a lighter bullet and see how fast…

.223? I would LOVE a .223 or .300BLK kit

Yeah the 223 kit is awesome!! I have it in a 16” barrel and in reality don’t need a 22 creed but more of a WANT for some serious speed.

I’m only getting an avg of about 2800 all be it with some 77gr 223 Norma match or imi razorcore.

My vote is take the 6.5 conversion and see what a 95gr Vmax does. I’ll bet 3300fps.
Pushing 2950 with 143gr puts it into the 6.5 PRC territory.
Granted, big game just gets 338LM. Because why not.
But, yeah… I still want something screaming at 4000FPS out of my SRS to obliterate a prairie dog.

If you have a .473 bolt and a short action mag, all you need is a barrel. I just got a 22 Creed SRS barrel from PVA. Only 12 rounds down it so far, so I can't claim anything, but it looked very good in the borescope. Turnaround was about 2 months.

I did this 30" Lija in .223 WSSM a while back, it gets 4200 fps with the factory Nosler 55 grain rounds. It uses the .300 mag bolt and a modified .308 mag.
It is very short, shoots well but has a terrible time ejecting. Lots of velocity with explosive results!

That is awesome. I'm in the northeast; "far" shots here are 200yds. Not a lot of wide open spaces, but occasionally I get the change to stretch for coyotes. Still, a small game vaporizer is high on the want list.

This round really does that, but has become difficult to get and expensive. I expect the 22 Creed should work well for that, and better in the SRS.

That looks like an absolute riot to shoot with vaporizing speed! Didn’t even know that round existed.
It is a cool round, too bad it never got accepted in the main stream. The 243 WSSM was more accepted, and a very good round too. Browning made the mini / micro A Bolt for this family of "super short magnums". Winchester made model 70's for them too.
