Not trying to steal any thunder from ARFCOM, but I can't hardly stand to get on there anymore. Figured there may some interest in a MK12 picture and discussion thread on here. I'll start:

Lower: Nodak Spud M16A1 'black' lower, Geissele SSA-E trigger, Colt A-1 grip and stock (trapdoor), Fulton Armory A1 extension with buffer and spring, Colt no-tic safety selector, no name milspec LPK

Upper: Colt AF forged M4 feedramp upper, tear drop FA, PRI Gasbuster charging handle with .mil big latch. Colt BCG. A.R.M.S. #40 rear with bonus point wingless swan logo, A.R.M.S. #38 SPR-PEQ 2-3 rail, Douglas barrel 1:7 twist, PRI milled flat flip up gas block, Colt gas tube, A.R.M.S. #22 M rings, Leupold MK 4 2.5-8 M/RT with M2 dials. Actual old stock Ops brake and collar. Allen Engineering AEM5. KAC bipod adapter with Harris BRMS and pod loc. KAC sling mount with Uncle Mikes sling stud. Oh and a A.R.M.S. TRC ring cap and rail.

This is my best effort at a late gen Mod 0. Big upgrades would be a Colt M16A1 lower (my birthday is coming up if anyone is feeling generous) and the original OPS 12th can.

You forget the Duct Tape and Foam Cheek Rest. ???

I've always had a special kind of Love for the MK12 MOD 0.

Nice, are the Mk12's cousins allowed? Here's my Seal Recon Rifle. Probably my favorite AR I've ever had.

Colt lower and upper guts
Gen 1 LMT SOPMOD with KAC QD
KAC Medium FF RAS
Lilja Seal Recon barrel with Mk12 gas block and KAC M4QD
NF 2.5-10x24 in a NF 20MOA Unimount

Can’t see the pic, but I’d like to lol. How’s that Lilja shoot?

Mk12Mod Holland

Complete 16" Douglas PRI upper assembly
Colt stamped M16A1 lower
Leupold Mk4 3.5-10
Aimpoint T1
Peq2A
Ops Inc 12th Model that it shares with my Mk12Mod1

I prefer this version to the Mod0/Mod1 as I was able to get the same velocity from a 77g TMK loading as Mk262, yet I have a shorter barrel. I normally shoot alot of 5-700 yard 1/1.5 MOA targets with it and have it to where at 550-600 I can empty the mag on target.

Took these today while shooting further, but I forgot I only had a 6 inch plate out there. Storm was moving in so I said screw it and shot 745 at a 6 inch plate while 15-20mph wind was coming constantly from the 4 o clock (where the storm was coming from) with gusts of 25+. Knowing I was a bit in over the head of the system/ammo, I was actually only pissed that the target was only the 6 inch plate as almost all of the misses were very near on either side of the target from an obvious wind change/gust. I did manage to hit the plate about 40% of the time and needed 22MOA and 2.2-3.2mils of wind.

Only thing I want to change is I want to swap the KAC bipod pic rail mount for a LaRue QD. When handling the gun like a carbine, its very beneficial to have the ability to drop the bipod and stow it; the bipod gets in the way and is actually worse at unbalancing the gun than the suppressor is.

I definitely fixed the photos. I haven't really shot the Lilja on paper yet. It's dead nuts to 400 on steel. I got to clean it and only shoot match ammo to put it through it paces. I'll end up loading for it when I get around to getting some dies.

What characteristics do you think make it a MK12 clone as opposed to a regular 16", flattop AR?

It’s not “characteristics” that make a Mk12. You either have the correct issued parts or you don’t. There’s some parts that are generally accepted as substitutes, like barrels as long as it’s the same contour or using the a different Mk4 than the TS30. Defeats the whole purpose of cloning if you’re just going to pick and choose which parts you use on the gun.

Mod 1 type; have since changed out the MK4 2.5-8 for a old Vari X III 3-9.

This started out as a Mod 0 clone build. I decided to modernize it a few years ago. No regrets. I still dig the clone guns and love the Mod0 look, but this is much more fun to shoot.

KAC URX4
Bushnell LRHS 3-12

Nice rifle. What does it have to do with this thread?

Some good looking rifles so far. I need to get mine out to the range soon and shoot it some more groups and try to decide on ammo. It was doing some downright silly things with Black Hills TMK last time I went out. It was almost like the scope was loose, but everything checked out when I got home and cleaned it.

Top pic is Black Hills 77 @300 and bottom pic is Federal GMM @300. Actually it was 293 yds but I was super impressed with teh Black Hills 77 gr.

My daughter's boyfriend running my mod0. AEM5 can. I went with a badger riser and rings like my buddies unit downrange. They shitcannned the QD rings. I started with my M3 variable (love it) but find the fixed parallax works better for what I use this rifle for. 32mm NXS becusse I can't bring myself to spend $1800 on a 24mm yet.

Another soldier buddy shooting Highower at 600. (I know the can is illegal but F it)

I love this rifle and after running it a couple years , find it is my favorite out of all my rifles, to include a bunch of high end custom match rifles and my mk13s. It just works.

Dont have pics right now but my first ar was a bcm mk12 mod 1 upper with lmt lower with the sopmod stock. I'll have to post some pics when I get a chance. Also upgraded to a geissele ssa-e trigger. It's still my favorite of all my ar type rifles.

Almost forgot. I wanted to get an ops inc collar, but dont have a suppressor. Is there any point to getting one besides being more clone correct? Like does it offer any flash suppression, etc.?

Newest addition to the fam, going to part the OPS brake to suit my surefire can—then work on Hornady 75ELD’s and 77SMK’s to see what she prefers.
KAC rail/bipod adapter/sights
Krieger barrel
NXS 2.5-10x32 with OPS QD

Are these the full strength ir peq 2's? Were they ever sold to civilians?

Mine is.

As far as I know they were not directly able to have been purchased, but the agencies/individuals who purchased them and/or ended up with them are legal to do with them as they please, as long as they are not stolen US gov property.

It is not illegal to purchase, own or use a restricted laser device.

Nice rifle, but lightyears away from a MK12

To me, one of the most iconic things about the MK 12 is the OPS can set up. Even without the can I think the set up is unique. The muzzle brake does work decently well even without the can. Unless you cant own one in your state, I'd say save up and get the can. Probably one of the best sounding 5.56 cans I've ever heard.

Just started doing load research today and noticed that the AR’s can’t even run Hornady’s 75 ELD; what bullet’s are guys getting the best long-range results with?

You can use the 73gr ELD. They are very fast with a high BC but I have not put much effort into getting them to group yet. Otherwise it is hard to go wrong with the 77gr OTM or 77gr TMK.

I use 24.3gr TAC and 23.5gr 8208xbr with the 77gr OTM at mag length. 23.2gr 8208 with the longer TMK. These loads generate approximately 2750 FPS in an 18" douglas barrel with AEM5 at mild ambient temperatures. All of these loads seem to do very well in most 1/7 or 1/8 barrels. Note, they're both above available .223 data.

I did try the 73 ELD with similar charges and got some very high velocities, like in the low to mid 2800s with no blown or even flattened primers.

I’ve been running this one for almost 3 years. Stock Daniel Defense MK12. Leupold MK6 1-6. Very dependable and fast setup.

SOLID info, the BC on those TMK’s is very appealing at long range, think I’ll run the TMK, OTM, and hornady and see how they all fly, then work up powder/cases.

24-24.4gr of Varget or RL15 under a 77SMK (been taper crimping them lately) LC or Win case with 205 primer is a very accurate load to 600y. (I drop .3gr with win cases)

edit in red

Not as hot as real deal 262. Around 17.25 moa to 600 depending on temp. Not sure what MV is, around 2700.

Off the shelf I was shocked how accurate the FC262 was. Not cheap but it shot half MOA at 500y. Most days I'm a 3/4moa shooter with a gas gun but a 3" singer was boring unless the wind picked up.

For my Mod1 is was a total pain in the ass for load development. I went across everything from Nosler 77s, 77 SMK and eventually the TMK. Then couldn't get anything reliable to group at accuracy I was going to be happy with and chased it down the hole with Varget, 2000MR, RL15, Benchmark and finally had it all come together with 8202XBR.

When I got the Mod Holland afterwards, it was a simple adjustment and I had loads for both. Ironically, the 16 inch Holland shoots better than the 18 inch Mod1.

77g TMK,
23.4 IMR 8208 XBR
CCI 400,
1.8205 ogive OAL ~2.260 COAL
.002 neck tension (.2465 loaded diameter)
LC NATO Brass

Everyone I have talked to for the most part agrees that 8202XBR is the ticket for this style rifle. Have you experience any seating depth issues with the TMK?
