    30 shots in 10 minutes?

Re: 30 shots in 10 minutes? The match is a 2 man team, 10 minute timed event. There are 48 steel plates set out from 75 to 300 yards. Most of the plates are 4" wide and 6 " high. If I use my XCR, I will go through alot more ammo because I only have access to surplus 7.62x39.(that crap only...

    30 shots in 10 minutes?

Re: 30 shots in 10 minutes? I would assume that the barrells on AR15s and rifles like the Rob Arms XCR are made for continuous firing where as a bolt action barrell is not?

    30 shots in 10 minutes?

I am fairly new to bolt action rifles and need some advice. There is a match at the local club on Sunday. It will require firing 30-40 rounds in 10 minutes. I usually use my semi-auto tactical rifle, but I am concidering using my .308 Remington 700 26" heavy barrell police. Would this high round...

Re: Lucky guess?? I am planning on doing a ladder test after the snow melts. There is about 3 feet of snow on the range and 100 yards is as far as it has been plowed out. Our local range is 300 yards....is a ladder test effective enough at this distance? I read somewhere that 300 to 500 is...

These are 5 shot groups at 107 yards with my Remington 700 in .308. I was trying some 165 Sierra HPBT and Hornady 168gr HPBT. I just used a middle of the road powder charge for each and spent alot of time prepping my brass. I was smiling ear to ear. I've always been a semi-auto kind a guy and...

Re: A few of my favorites I love my XCR. It is in 7.62x39. I took it hunting last fall and it makes a terrific bush gun and is quick to get in and out of the truck. I live in Canada, so it is one of the only assult style rifles that can be used off a registered range.

Bolt won't close on cold ammunition???

Re: Bolt won't close on cold ammunition??? It was the shoulder length. I bumped back the shoulder on one of the brass and that made the difference. I guess the cold would have just amplified the problem somehow. A simple solution in the end that now makes me feel a little stupid. I tell my...

Bolt won't close on cold ammunition???

Re: Bolt won't close on cold ammunition??? Well, I froze everything at -10 Deg.F.. TRied to chamber several rounds (most would not). After rifle & ammo warmed up, all but 5 rounds would let the bolt close. I pulled a bullet and tried the empty brass -would not close. Must be a brass sizing...

Bolt won't close on cold ammunition???

Re: Bolt won't close on cold ammunition??? Thanks for the input guys. I am going to go out again in the next few days (it will be even colder), and try it again. I will first try freezing the gun and the ammo without firing a round to see if there are any issues. The comment about the bolt...

Bolt won't close on cold ammunition???

I'm new to rifle reloading. Loaded several rounds of .308 150gr. bullets. My rifle is a Rem. 700. All brass was weighed and trimmed to exact length, and bullets seated to exact depth. (OAL of 2.769" and confident that the ojive of the bullet is not jammed into the lands.) The temp outside today...
