    243 Win Loads

Haven't reloaded for my .243 yet, but i've shot quite a bit of Bergers in other calibers... In my experience, the VLD like to be .010" (ten-thousands) jammed or .035" (thirty-five thousands) jumped. In three of my rifles, much outside that range, and i got crappy groups...like 1.5 - 2"...

    55 gr bullet & Varget in a 20" AR15

Second lazy engineer's opinion on varget as a match with 55gr bullets. 55gr Hornady Softpoints 27.5gr Varget LC-11 Brass Tula SRP. 27.5gr varget will overflow many commercial cases with thicker walls. The powder comes almost up to the case mouth and you hear crunching when the bullet is...

    Show Your Hunting Rifles!

Blackfoot, What sling is that? Nice rifle! I bet the brake reduces what should be a brutal kick with that light a stick.

GO GET 'EM...Remington 700s at Walmart for $297

Where in Houston did you find a walmart selling guns? I swear this town is overrun by liberals.

Help deciding on caliber for model 70LA build

No offense intended however, Your rifle caliber is fine & more than capable of doing what you want...perhaps you should spend more time behind it... Develop loads for it (check out the 30-06 loads in the reloading depot) you will be pleasantly surprised.

    AR Comp 77SMK HPBT

Lazy, It's tough to say. I don't believe your loads are unsafe, despite the "pressure signs". Some gas guns tend to give false pressure signs even at low charge weights. My experience with this powder is that the hot loads is where the accuracy is, and your results seem to match that. If you...

New barrel thoughts for my AR

Since this is strictly a bench gun, i'd go as long as possible, 24", rifle length, 1:8 or 1:7 in a Wylde chamber. I recommend white oak armament, Lilja, Krieger or Satern as top choices.

What is my check list for hunting this season?

Still having trouble understanding your explanations especially without pictures. I don't want to make a diagnosis without pictures and a better description of the failure mode. But you definitely need a different rifle for this hunting season, assuming you cannot find a real gunsmith (not the...

Few questions about modifying KAC SR25

What exactly are you going to gain by going from a 16" rifle to 20" rifle? How often will you be clearing rooms or other CQB activities? How often will you be shooting 800yards? What is the reality of most of your shooting? The 20" rifle is better than the 16" rifle as distance...

Building a rifle for the wife..............and me

LRJammer nailed it. Get her a .243 winchester. Factory loads from 58gr to 100gr+ are available everywhere & for a reasonable price. These loads are good for varmints to Elk. Recoil? What recoil?

    M14A value

I'd be interested to see if you could still shoot 100-10X with this rifle.

    AR Comp 77SMK HPBT

Lazy, I have since gone onto different lot of powder from when i tested the above. I shot three different AR-15s w different chambers & noticed the following with load info below: 77smk 22.5gr AR-comp LC brass Tula SRP RRA A4 with wylde chamber (different barrel from the one above which is...

    .308 155gr options

Ya might wanna re-check your ballistic App... Your best bet for wind drift is a heavy bullet...208AMAX, 210 berger hybrids etc. You don't need them going that fast...even at 2550ft/s, they will shoot inside the 155s at 3000ft/s. A good compromise is the 178HPBT or the 185 Berger Juggernauts...

Reloading for 308 AR gas rifle

ARs are not like older gas guns such as M1 Garands and M14s that have op-rods which can be overstressed. ARs will handle bolt-gun loads and ask for more. Unlike bolt guns, you may see ejector/extractor marks on your brass even with light loads...each AR is different and you need to see what...

Homebrewed M118 loads for gas guns

My hunting load out of a DPMS LR-308 (20" bbl) is: 178 AMAX 44.4gr Varget LC or Win Brass Tula LRP Works well and also use it as a match load (usually with 175 SMK or 185 Bergers out front). This load is safe in both my 308 AR gas guns and M1A.

Cost v. Benefit of Reloading .308

Sivrup, Yes, i would make the same recommendation to anyone beginner or advanced reloader. As I previously mentioned, i value my time and consider reloading a chore...which doesn't exactly meld well with my competition schedule.

Cost v. Benefit of Reloading .308

Infidel, Let me start by saying that if you are spending more than $0.45 per round ALL in reloading, you are doing it wrong. 1. Think Big. Buy in Bulk. Buy Online. Buying reloading components at your Local Gun Store is a waste of money especially if you are buying components in small...

Night Vision Getting Serious about NODs; Seeking advice on set-up (Thermal + NVS)

Vic, Thanks for the reply and offer to listen to my needs. I will be calling TNVC, but probably not till the following weekend due to work schedule. I understand my budget is a bit constraining, and it is not set in stone. I just want to get into Quality NVDs without going crazy and getting...

Night Vision Getting Serious about NODs; Seeking advice on set-up (Thermal + NVS)

Like the title says, I'm looking to purchase NODs in the not too distant future (a few months, or now, if the pricing is agreeable). I am not made of money, however, i would like highly functional/effective set-up suitable for my application (static hunting over feeders) . Requirements...
