    Why use Standard Deviation?

As a smart guy once told me, believe the bullet. I’ll find a node to see if I’m in the ballpark I want velocity wise (big OBT fan) then tweak the load. Once it proves consistent at multiple distances (including gathering dope and envirnmebtals) for said distances, chrono for an avg velocity...

Rifle Scopes Sighting a Primary Arms 4-14x44 in 50 yard range

Run a ballistics calculator with the inches of drop on, set for a 100yd zero with your correct sight height. Make a mark on your target above or below your point of aim that coincides to where your bullets path should be at 50yds and use that to zero.

Rifle Scopes Help with a budget minded optic for Howa 1500

I love the SWFA SS scopes, and they are always my first recommendation for “budget”. That being said, I have transitioned to doing more hunting than precision and the one thing that keeps me from wanting an SS on my hunting rig is the large open turrets. I’ve found smaller adjustable or even...

Rifle Scopes Using a .223 BDC reticle on a .308?

Thanks-you expressed my sentiment much clearer than I had the patience to after working a 14hr day of storm response while typing on my phone. Subtensions are subtensions. Back when the biggest reticle arguments were “are oval dots better than round dots”, and no one had matching turrets...

Rifle Scopes Using a .223 BDC reticle on a .308?

RTH- Different tools, different jobs. I’ve put more than a couple barrel’s worth of rounds on steel across the country under match conditions through my beloved USO mil-MPR, and I’ve put a couple animals or two down utilizing BDC reticles. I just disagree with your disdain for them, and your...

Rifle Scopes Using a .223 BDC reticle on a .308?

My 16” 308 shooting 165BTSP’s at 2625 matches my US Optics 1-8’s RWF-77 reticle which was designed for 77gr SMK’s by a 3-gunner our to 600. I’ve got a Nikon BDC on my Savage 6.5CM that matches old 140 Amax’s at 2750 as well. Tell an old 8541 that BDC’s don’t work in different conditions-that’s...

    AR15 , slam fire reasons?

An in-spec AR with trigger pins intact will not impact firing pin by hammer until lockup. Crap in firing pin channel or other reason firing pin would be stuck protruding would be my guess.

    Help with a 6.5 Grendel

If you wanna blast crap at 100-200yds, by all means go cheap, hell get a blackout or SPC and have fun. If you want a sub-moa rifle capable of taking CXP2 game to 700 or so yards (which is really where a Grendel shines) don’t sell yourself short.

    Help with a 6.5 Grendel

I don’t, but lots do. 65G suppressed is arguably Scott’s favorite personal predator build. If Specialized Dynamics’ site isn’t showing just uppers, contact him anyway va the site.

    Help with a 6.5 Grendel

Contact Scott at SDRifles.com He build a great Grendel upper, and stands behind his builds. I’ve actually witnessed arguably the best gunsmith in the business (runs a little place in KC;)) pick one of Scott’s uppers off a prize table happily.
