What primer has everyone settled on for the Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor brass?

+1 for CCI 400's...I'm also getting pretty low SD with them. I'll be trying 450's next. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

Same Grain, Different Caliber As Starting point

Alright guys, I have an update on the situation. Using quickload I was able to use the 6XC cartridge and just up the case capacity by a few grains. This gave me a decent starting point using Varget with 6mm creedmoor. Starting from 36.0gr, I worked up in .5gr increments to a final load of...

Same Grain, Different Caliber As Starting point

Alright, thanks for the help guys. My main concern is safety, of course. I figured there was no loading data because it was just a new cartridge. I guess I'll have to abandon Varget. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

Same Grain, Different Caliber As Starting point

According to this, .243 and 6x47 are nearly identical (0.2gr difference), however, there seems to be a discrepancy between this data and what people are reporting. Hodgdon states a max load for 6x47 w/Varget @ 33.2gr whereas actual shooters are saying they run ~37gr...not sure what to make of...

Same Grain, Different Caliber As Starting point

I'd like to get my hands on some h4350 but it's sold out everywhere. That said, I'd really like to give Varget a shot since I already bought it. From what I've gathered from the 6x47 guys is that 37gr of Varget is the ticket with 105 hybrids. I know the case dimensions are different for the...

Same Grain, Different Caliber As Starting point

Hey guys, I'm getting into reloading and had some questions on where to start with the load. There isn't much info out there about 6mm creedmoor and I was wondering, can I take a 6.5 creedmoor load and start with the data for a similar grain bullet (like 107grain)? Is this a bad idea? Necking Down with Redding Die

Hmm good call, I've heard this as well and will have to try it. I just received my competition die set and looked into the body die and can clearly see a body to shoulder leading into a neck space. Surely there must be some sort of resizing done when starting with a larger diameter neck...

    Necking Down with Redding Die

Alright, I'm glad i asked. Thank you all for the info! I'll post my progress once I get things underway. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

    Necking Down with Redding Die

Perfect, thanks. Ordered the standard die. That's a good point. I'm assuming this is more of a concern when FL resizing every time, as opposed to just neck sizing (with the competition neck die)? Perhaps I can just use the standard FL die only initially and not worry about working the brass...

    Necking Down with Redding Die

Oh nice, alright I'll check it out. It probably doesn't matter but should I be getting a Type S Redding sizer or just stick with the standard? Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

    Necking Down with Redding Die

Alright, cool. I'll probably pick up a Hornady Match FL die since it's cheap(er) and available for 6MM CM. EDIT: Actually I was just able to find a standard Redding FL sizing die Alright, I'll have to get a neck turner too then since this is exactly what I want to do using lapua brass. Thanks...

    Necking Down with Redding Die

Hey guys, I'm brand new to reloading and I'm interested in converting 6.5 to 6mm creedmoor. I have a 6CM Redding competition die set and I'm wondering if I need any other dies/equipment to do this. I've read that the body die doesn't touch the neck, however, is this true when starting with a...
