    6.5x284

Re: 6.5x284 Hmm...thanks a lot for making everything more confusing! My options at this point is the Savage f-class 6.5 for a little over 900, and a Savage FCP .308 in a choate tactical stock with a trued action for 850. The 6.5 seems better if I'm going to shoot competition exclusively...

    6.5x284

Re: 6.5x284 Well, s4f, I'm looking for an affordable competition rig, and have recently become fond of the savage ftr. However, NO ONE wants to sell their ftr 308....no one. And I can't quite afford a new one (even if I could, I'd rather buy used and spend the money I saved on load...

Re: 6.5x284 It's not as expensive as 300wsm?

    6.5x284

How much does it cost you to reload a premium load that could compete in competition? The best way to figure out the true cost per round is to take the cost of the brass per cartridge, add the cost of all materials required for that cartridges expected life (if 5, then add 5 loads of gunpowder...

    Which Savage Rifle?

Re: Which Savage Rifle? Well look at it this way. If you ever want to customize you build to a long action caliber (magnums), you'll be golden! Short action calibers can be shot through a long action, but not the other way around. It's just another option for you to use in the near future...

    .308 done,what do you think?

Re: .308 done, what do you think? Best paint job I've ever seen. Wow...when I decide to paint my rifle, I'm sending it to you.

    Which Savage Rifle?

Re: Which Savage Rifle? Well, the 12flv, if ordered, will not come with the mount, rings, scope, and bipod. Those will be additional purchases you'll need to make that will cost quite a bit of money depending on the quality you choose (harris bipod is nice). The 110 is a VERY good rifle to...

    Savage 12 F/TR

If anyone has had experience with this rifle, please share it. I'm in the market for an f-class rifle, and have my eyes set on this rifle, though I can be convinced otherwise with the proper evidence. It seems to be a relatively newer rifle, so reviews and videos of its performance are scarce at...

    Savage LRH on the WAY

Re: Savage LRH on the WAY Just buy a Bushnell. Besides, it's always nice to have a backup scope in case something horrible happens to your original scope. What if, the day before a hunt, you drop your gun and the reticule shatters? It's always nice to have that backup. Spend a couple...

    Savage LRH on the WAY

Re: Savage LRH on the WAY I too have an LRH on the way (308). It will be married to a Leupold M4 L/RT 6.5-20 Ill. TMR when it arrives. Please, as soon as you get a chance to shoot it, video tape it and post some results. I'm very very interested in how the LRH will perform. I've heard...

Savage 11 LRH .308 mod help

Re: Savage 11 LRH .308 mod help You really think the 11 lrh can compete at those ranges against an f/tr? I'd have to buy a bull barrel with a 1-11 or 1-12 twist. I don't think the 1-10 on my 11 lrh is going to cut it. With the price tag of a new barrel like that, I might as well sell the 11...

My first bolt-action rifle. Help modifying please?

Re: My first bolt-action rifle. Help modifying please? Do you want FFP? That feature typically adds to the price, so it's really up to you. Do you understand what FFP is and its purpose? It has its ups and downs compared to how you intend to use the scope.

Re: Savage 11 LRH .308 mod help Karsten cheek rest seems the be the way to go. Will pick one up as soon as I see it for a bargain price. Already purchased a 20 moa rail to replace the 0 I currently have, and I'm all set for rings. Range time is inevitable.

Savage Long Range Precision Caliber selection help

Re: Savage Long Range Precision Caliber selection help My opinion is the .243, my friend, and here's why. I don't know how many years you've spent shooting your 243 deer rifle. But if you've used it for quite some time and have mentally adapted to its long range characteristics, recoil...

Savage 11 LRH .308 mod help

Re: Savage 11 LRH .308 mod help Ya that's one thing I noticed when handling the weapon at the gun store (I handled the 6.5x284 chambered version). No doubt the 308 will be a bit more gentle than your 338 cannon, so I'm interested to see if that change will need to be made. But for $50, why...
